Well it's been a couple of weeks since taking ownership of my iPhone 3G and I wanted to write to update you all on a couple of things.
Invisible Shield
You may recall in my last review that I didn't rate the Griffin Wave case and had ordered the Invisible Shield kit.
Well it's been installed on my iPhone for a week and a half and I honestly didn't know how I managed without it.
The application of the shield is a bit fiddly and to be honest the corners are not perfect but this is a minor gripe when considering the benefits.
The grip is greatly improved now which means I have more confidence when using my iPhone. At first it felt a little tacky but this isn't a bad thing. The shield does not attract dust etc (but the bobbly corners original caught the odd hair!). This means I can slip my iPhone 3G in my pocket without any concerns.
The screen is viewable and only in direct sunlight can you see the slight ripple effect of the coating - this isn't noticed when viewing straight on.
The shield doesn't impact on the performance either as the touch screen works perfectly. It also seems that my iPhone is no longer victim to so many finger prints and smudges.
De Blob
OK first up I must confess to downloading and instantly deleting a number of Apps as they have not lived up to my expectations.
Some such as Super Monkey Ball have simply been removed from my iPhone as they are too difficult to control (which is a shame as it looked so promising).
I have recently purchased De Blob and unknown to me this is a port from a Wii game.
If you can ignore all the silly bickering in the ratings section re the price you have an excellent, fun and quite addictive game.
It's especially clever (when considered with Sega's SMB) as it allows you to play with the touch screen or the tilt mechanism. You can also calibrate the tilt mechanism for your playing angle (Are you listening Sega?).
The game concept is pretty simple but there are quite a few challenges in there (not least remembering which colours when mixed together make what new colour).
This game wins over the likes of Super Marion on the DS as they would drive me nuts as I could not save my levels on my commute. The levels in De Blob are timed allowing me the choice of when to play (when considering my journey) and at the end of every stage everything is saved for me.
The graphics are really bright and colourful and the music is quite funky.
If you want a puzzle/arcade game that you can pick up every once in a while (or get totally addicted to) and you have a spare £4 then you can't really do wrong with De Blob.Labels: iPhone 3G, Wii

TG on Track!
Sunday, April 13, 2008
I don't race as Trunkguy but I thought it'd be cool to create a separate driver. Sadly I cannot use all the tracks and goodies I have unlocked with this additional driver so I will continue to drive Marion Kart Wii as myself.
I have had a few friend codes already - don't forget to send me yours!
Mii? 3780 9141 2943
Oh and yes I said I wouldn't apologize if I didn't blog or pod cast so this isn't really an apology simply an explanation: contrary to popular belief I have not spent the weekend on the Wii, the weather has actually been quite nice. Dan paid us a visit yesterday and today we're off out for a picnic. There will be updates when I feel good and ready ;0)Labels: Trunk Cast, UK, Weather, Wii

Avoid the Rainbow Road
Thursday, April 10, 2008
My copy of Mario Kart Wii arrived a day earlier and it's brilliant.
Some of the new courses are devilishly difficult but the old familiar ones are still there. The Rainbow Road is very difficult though.
Got a Wii? Get the game send me your friend code and I'll see you on the race track!
Update My Mario Kart Friend Code is 3780 9141 2943 - feel free to add me and I'll see you onlineLabels: Wii

Finally good news
Friday, April 04, 2008
It's been a very odd and sometimes horrible week. Especially in work, first with the company news and then with the shock news that my 45 year old boos who was our Project Head died suddenly on Wednesday. Find out more in Trunk Cast 130
Today was a brighter day starting with our planned office trip to the Bridewell Theatre for the lunchtime performance of Shakespeares "Tempest". It was another great performance from the production company there.
I think got confirmation that my ore ordered copy of Mario Kart Wii is good to go ;) I cannot wait to get my hands on it. See you on the race tracks online.Labels: London, My World, News, Trunk Cast, Wii

ZZZZZzzzzz

I have been desperately trying to catch up on sleep - not helped by Brandy waking us both up at the crack of dawn yesterday. At least I have managed a respectable lay in until 9 ish today - I was woke up by my baby, Miss Brandy and a bacon sandwich (no that's not a euphemism) ;)
Yesterday was very quiet though. We had the promised quiet day - in fact we watched a couple of movies. Elizabeth, The Golden Age (which was very good if not factually incorrect), and The Simpsons Movie (which was much funnier than I expected. We also played a couple of our regular DVDs in an attempt to see how our new Blu Ray player handled the picture with our new HD TV. I can honestly say we were both pleasantly surprised.
Of course with technology there is always something else isn't there and apart from me still mulling over getting an iPhone and a new Mac Book Pro, we are now wondering if it's possible to stream our ripped DVD movies from our server to the TV with an Apple TV? For now though we can use the Wii the stream movies for us (It's not elegant but it works).
I hope you have all had a listen to Trunk Cast 127 as it details my trip to Athens. I am not going to write anymore about it in the blog as so much happened it's easier to listen to the Trunk Cast.
I am also loving the new Beta version of Firefox, I never liked the old version on my Mac but the new version is incredibly quick and lot of the extensions are very useful. My only gripe with it is the lack of a keyboard shortcut for the home page...Labels: Cats, Digital Media, Music, Richard, Travel, Trunk Cast, TV, UK, Wii

Sporty Mii!
Sunday, January 20, 2008
Since Christmas Richard has been trying to get hold of a copy of Mario & Sonic at the Olympics as the boys reliably informed we could play this over Ninty Wifi.
We have finally got hold of a copy but now realize this is not the case - sadly all you can do is swap scores. What's the point? Isn't it about time Nintendo make proper use of Nintendo Wifi Connect 24 on the Wii - they can do it on the DS why not the Wii?
Still that said Olympics is an entertaining game and a decent alternative to Wii Sports.
It's the only time you'll ever see Mii in Lycra (Spandex to you in the USA) - so make the most of it!
It's a shame my neck is shagged as I would love to play harder - sadly I cannot and feel that I should lay off the Wii for a while until my neck is better :(Labels: My World, Photography, Wii

Quiet Sunday
Sunday, November 18, 2007
We haven't planned anything for today and seeing as we were so busy yesterdya I think thta's just as well.
I have however managed to make it down to the high street where I picked a few bits and pieces. I have surprised myself but purchasing Christmas cards - this doesn't mean it'll all fall into place now though. I don't even know when I will have time to write them to be honest! (Maybe I should just mail merge the addresses and just send blank cards marked with an "x"!)
Anyway the reason for this post is that I had little intention on purchasing Super Mario Galaxy for the Wii and yet I did! And what do I think? Well I Love it. I have already lost a couple hours today flying from planet to planet.
I had heard some reviews making comments about pixelation in the graphics but I have not seen a single glitch. Funnily enough putting the disc in our Wii for the first time made it update the system...
Anyway the gameplay is fantastic, the controls really easy (even with both controllers), the humour is as bright as ever and it's just a joy to fly from world to world... I can see I am going to loose much more time to Mr Mario and his Galaxy!Labels: Shopping, Wii

Great weekend
Monday, July 30, 2007
We have had a great weekend. A number of our friends came to ours on Sunday to wish Richard a belated Happy Birthday. We ended up having a dual celebration as Liz and Colin got engaged on Saturday. Thankfully the weather decided to behave and after a last minute decision we moved the party to the garden. This was definitely the right move as it made for a relaxing, civil afternoon. Of course some of our friends wanted to try out the Wii. I am not sure if I will ever be able to shift the image of Lawrence boxing! Special thanks have to go to Gwyn for her delicious trifle! I didn't take many photos but I plan to browse what I did take and share them tonight. Labels: Wii

Another Round?
Sunday, June 17, 2007
As you can see from this photo we left London rather late last night - this followed our day in town with Carol and Dave.
They had had a cultural day looking around sights such as Tower Bridge and the Cabinet War Rooms, Richard went to the gym and I went shopping. By 4 o'clock we had all met at Piccadilly where we went to Richoux for afternoon tea.
This was a very refined and civilized way to start our day and an excellent opportunity to catch up with Carol and Dave.
When we left Richoux we decided to go walk about and gave them a tour of London.
We certainly gained a lot of ground on our tour and managed to take in the West End, Soho (where we happened to bump into Lee and Elvis!) and then found our way into our first pub.
From there we made out way down to the river, we tried out the new Disappearing Rooms installation on the South Bank (see above) before heading along the Thames to another pub for more bevvies and some food.
All in all we had a wonderfully chilled out day, the weather behaved itself but I cannot say we did! It really was refreshing to see Carol and Dave again and we're looking froward to seeing them again in the not too distant future.
Thankfully it's much sunnier today so Dave will have good weather when he takes part in the Falklands parade this afternoon.
I am sure when they visit in a August there will be quite a fierce Wii tournament (especially as I bought Richard Wii Play yesterday!).
Oh well, I guess I had better pack for this course tomorrow :(Labels: Friends, London, Weather, Wii

Weeeiiii!
Sunday, June 10, 2007
Well it certainly has been a busy weekend!
It started with Richard and I travelling down to Southend to meet with Dan and Matt. As you may recall we went down a couple weeks ago as Dan was due to take a flying lesson - a gift from Matt.
The weather originally was terrible but thankfully this weekend was much better.
We had a lovely morning and Dan (albeit with two planes) managed to get off the ground.
As you can see from the photo's he was as pleased as punch!
Afterwards we all headed into Southend for celebratory fish and chips and a stroll along the prom.
Richard had the crazy idea to go to Lakeside on the way back where we managed to get our hands on a Wii (with extra controller, Sonic, Red Steel, Wii Sports and a GT).
Needless to say the majority of last night was spent with Richard and I swinging our arms around like we were demented.
I can certainly tell why the Wii has been such a big hit though. It's so much fun to play and to be honest I think you easily curb the amount of time playing as the games are so physical. I am sure I have wii tennis elbow already.
I do think wii sports is the best and I especially love the amount of aggression I can shed with the boxing ;0) Richard is a natural bowler although we did nearly loose our lamp shade on a couple of occasions!
Keep a look out for our Mii's as they are out in the wii-lderness!
Of course Saturday night also saw the BBC's broadcast of the Pet Shop Boys concert I attended on Monday... For this week only you can download it.
(p.s. you can blame Dan for the lack of pod cast this week as I have been editing the video of his flying lesson..) ;0)Labels: 365, Friends, Pet Shop Boys, Photography, Pic-a-Day, Shopping, Wii, You Tube
