Frogmore
Monday, August 25, 2008
Yesterday we spent the day in Windsor as we had booked to take a look at Frogmore House. It is a home on the Windsor Estate which is still used by the Royal Family and was where Queen Victoria grew up.
Frogmore is only open to the public two days a year so it's best to book ahead for fear of forgetting!
Anyway we spent a drizzly morning on the Frogmore estate but to be honest the grounds are so nice we didn't notice the rain.
Frogmore is a couple of miles from Windsor Castle so we had a bit of exercise and worked up an appetite, grabbing some lunch before heading into the castle. We have been to the castle several times but never so late in the day and to be honest I couldn't stand the crowds. It didn't feel too bad to rush around as quickly as we did as we had seen much of it before.
The Moat Garden was open to the public yesterday, again a feature usually out of bounds to the public. We took the opportunity to have a stroll around the beautifully secluded gardens and I am really glad we did as it offered a fantastic perspective of the castle that you rarely get to see.
Thankfully it's a bank holiday here in the UK and we have the chance to chill out (Friday we tided up the garden), today as it's over cast we have planned a Beef Roast followed by a lazy afternoon together. Perfect.
