MIA - Missing Interesting Anecdotes

Saturday, September 03, 2005

I have been reading through my blog and it has just become obvious that the funny little events that happen during the day, the anecdotes I bestow upon friends and colleagues when I see them, are missing!

There are a number that I could record here but I am sure there are even more I have forgotten!

One such incident happened last night...

I brought the washing in from the garden and was putting it away. Both cats were fast asleep until I placed a pair of Richards undies the drawer. Both of them shot off their chair and started to attack the wardrobe!

I decided to investigate this source of frantic interest when I heard a buzzing. Gently moving away a pair of undies I noticed there was a huge bumble bee trapped inside. He must have flown into the washing whilst it was hanging in the garden.

Before I had chance to think about how to get the little guy out of there he was twatted across the head by the big mean white paw of Jerry!

Of course all hell broke loose as the bee got angry and both Jerry and Brandy decided to try and kill it for dinner!

I was just stood there watching this chaos unfold when I realized a) I didn't want to get stung b) I didn't want the bee to sting either of the cats c) I didn't want either of the cats to eat the bee and d) I did not want the bee getting into the rest of the house.

I quickly had to shout at Brandy and Jerry making them scarper for the safety of the dining room (this was after a little persuasion as Jerry wanted to come back up to have another swipe at the bee).

I then quickly ran to the kitchen, grabbed a tumbler and a place mat and gingerly made my way back to our bedroom.

Thankfully the bumble bee had settled back in the drawer so I was able to trap it between the tumbler and the place mat before making my way, even more gingerly downstairs. As you can imagine bumble bees are not best pleased to be sandwiched between a glass and some hardboard!

I did manage to get myself and the bee out into the garden before either of us got lynched by the cats, upon where I lifted the glass and let him fly away.

I must admit I was a little worried about the bee seeking revenge but thankfully he just took flight!

This seems to be the season where other insects such as spiders, moths and daddy long legs are making their way into the house for warmth. I fear that we are due a couple months of frantic cat to insect duels!

Oh yes, if one more person decides to mention or copy the godawful countdown from Madonna's website for her next mundane album I WILL SCREAM! Get a grip people!
