Fuelling the rage!

What is going on in the UK? Why are we so easily lead by the tabloid press and the likes of Murdoch's news empire? This seems to be a recurring theme but I think it needs to be for people to take notice! Why on earth do we believe the hype of the newscasters to such an extent that we end up queuing for hours to get fuel?
OK we have all seen the images on Americans doing this in the wake of hurricane Katrina but we all know that there are more than enough reserves for us! I do wish people would just calm down!
Why am I not worried? Simply because I filled the car up on Monday morning, as I usually do on my way to work. If I cannot get to work due to lack of fuel then it's just too bad.
I am sure it won't spill over to such a degree that it impacts on our holiday next week. Typically we have decided for this break to spend it in the UK, visiting parts we have not been to before. Typically this holiday will rely on us needing to use the car! It would seem that it was all media hype and panic...
We are off to Suffolk on Monday, it does not sound too grand when compared to Paris, London, New York or Spain (places we have also been this year) but I am sure it will be a welcome break and will include stunning scenery. Our holiday location is not a million miles away from where we live but as the things we plan to do would require a whole day of travelling there and back, we decided it best to find a nice spot locally.
This is where Richard and I still think like a couple of Devonshire residents as we have not visited Suffolk before because it is much much further away from Devon then where we live now.
There is a loose itinerary for next week but we both want to visit Orford Ness. Not your usual National trust property, but I am sure it will interest us.
I am actually really looking forward to seeing our accommodation as we were recommend by friends our ours to look up a collection of converted cottages and farm buildings. We are staying in a converted barn and I sincerely hope it is as romantic as the photographs featured online. If we do nothing else next week, I simply hope we spend the time relaxing.
Of course this means I won't be near a computer (except to take shots off my camera to store on my iBook) so there will be no blog entries or podcasts next week.
I have been looking at the vast array of things that are possible with podcasts and I hope to try some of them our for the next edition of my podcast ;) It should (all being well), be live on Friday.
If you have posted a comment recently you may have noticed that I have blocked anonymous comments and add verification. This is due to the level of rogue comments I have been receiving and the chicken hearted people who want to remain nameless. If you have something to say - own up to it!
As you know we are suckers for our cats and live with two little terrors, Brandy and Jerry. I was mailed by a lovely guy who lives up in Stourbridge, Rob; whom notified me of a photography competition for the Cats Protection League. As you can imagine being a pet owner means a wealth of photos of our cats and other peoples. Of course I jumped at the chance to send off some enteries - I just cross my fingers now hoping they bring me luck or at least end up in print :) If you would like to see the photographs I have entered, some of them are in this Flickr set ;)
It is Open House weekend here in the UK and Richard and I plan to get into the capital and see some buidlings this year. Every year buildings that are usually shut to the public are open for us to view - it's a great opportunity to have a nose around interesting and new places as well as an excuse to take the camera into town for some new shots. We always seem to miss it, this year we are determined to have a look.
I would say we'd possibly visit Harvey Nichols for tea in the afternoon (as it is sort of a tradition), but following the recent shooting in there I am not so sure!
At last Google seems to have caught up with the latest trends (not bas as they own Blogger!) - not entirely sure that we really need a Google Blog Specific search though - do we?
Oh, one last ramble - Robin is out! If you don't watch the Smoking Room then you have no idea what I am on about but basically the principal character wsa outed by his work mates in the last of the second series. The reaction was typical of The Smoking Room though. Please Mr BBC Three, don't make us wait too long for the next series ;)
