Trends

Friday, July 15, 2005

It has come to my attention that it's not just the Burberry loving Chav's of the world that seem to follow "trends". From what I can tell it affects everyone.

This weekend will see another flurry of people racing to read the next Harry Potter before anyone else. Why? It's a children's' novel, surely the adults should steer clear? Sorry but I have never gotten into the Potter Mania and never will - I just don't get it.

We also seem to easily follow language, we hear a word and before you know it everyone is using it. I don't just mean comedy catch-phrases either.

I am tired of hearing "art critics" mentioning the word "Juxtaposition" - to me this just illustrates they do not have a clue what they are talking about and are trying to make themselves sound clever and superior.

The word de jour seems to be "Stoic". Ever since Tony Blair mentioned it last week post London bombings it has cropped up everywhere. I am fairly sure a good proportion of the populous had a) never heard of it before and b) have no idea what it means. I had heard it banded about over the past week but it was Richard's' exclamation about it last night that made me realize just how much it is being used.

English is one of the most complicated and content rich languages in the world (if not the). Surely though people should just read more literature or books in general, then they'd be better educated and could stop all this "catch-phrase pretense"? (i.e. Step away from the TV!)

Oh a lighter note I'd like to as We Are Not Afraid why Brandy and Jerry's image has not made it to the gallery :( They are very hurt as they were only too willing to show their support.

Oh well it is the weekend and it follows a very long week. I don't remember having Monday off, I have been so busy. Still all the work will be worth it (although we may be less one office member by the end of it all as I am sure I will kill someone very soon!)

And for any of you who read my comments regularly, you will notice "G" keeps popping up. Who is the mysterious "G", he's just some flake from my office (not the person mentioned above), someone who wants a man filter so he doesn't have to look at all the naked hunks I place here. Yes you guessed it, he's a sad str8! And do you really think I am going to pay any attention to his request...

I don't think so!

Oh yes, one last thing - WTF!?!?!
