Fell asleep amongst the flowers...
Sunday, July 24, 2005
Today was lovely and relaxing. I met up with Yvonne, Andrea and Vanessa and we spent a predominantly rain soaked day at the Royal Botanical Gardens, Kew.
The weather did not dampen our spirits though as we had a fun time wandering around the extensive gardens, conservatories, stopping for tea and lunch when we felt the need.
I am not sure what I think of the Dale Chihuly glass sculptures that currently adorn the gardens. To be honest I'd visit Kew to see the plants, not some weird glass interpretations! I do also have views about an "artist" who doesn't actually create his work but has a team to do it for him. But I digress...
As you can see the installations do make interesting subjects though.
Then again the wildlife at Kew can also prove very photogenic.
I have not seen Yvonne, Andrea or Ness in ages and it was lovely to catch up. It certainly sounds like we all enjoyed ourselves. Vanessa even learnt the name of the river that runs through London! Yes today (for some) truly was educational ;) - Sorry Ness, only kidding.
I hope we do it again soon. Hopefully next time the weather may be a bit brighter!
(P.S. Yes Ness the song title is a reference to the comment made about me by the "two young men" and no my head has not swelled - honest!)
