C(h)ocks Away!

As you may have gathered from the subtle message, yesterday was my baby's birthday.
Richard has a strong interest in aviation so I thought I'd do something special for his birthday and help fulfil an ambition of his.
As this photo illustrates Richard took the skies yesterday behind the control of a Tomahawk!
It's very handy working where I do as there are a number of flying schools on site. So for the first time I had to go to the office on a Saturday!
I was allowed to sit in on the pre-flight briefing before Richard and his trainer (an ex commercial pilot named Charles), took to the skies over Bedfordshire. Richard was in the air around 45 minutes and had a very in-depth first lesson. He was allowed to taxi the plane, the trainer illustrated how the plane glides by cutting the engine and they completed all sorts of other manoeuvres (except looping the loop!).
Obviously Richard was thrilled with his experience (which is great as I was a little worried about his reaction to such a gift!) and spent the rest of his birthday with a beaming smile.
I am so, so proud of Richard, I am not sure I could have taken the controls in a plane, especially one so small.
