X PC / PC Box

I used to be an avid gamer, in fact I used to spend far to many hours wandering the corridors of Doom or blasting my way around Quake.
I am not sure why I stopped, maybe the lack of sleep, maybe the lack of a personal life and the constant feeling of tiredness? Maybe...
Anyway we have just put our GameCube on EBay as we don't play it - and I think we have only ever played it twice.
Since joining my new office a group of the guys has been trying to get me to purchase an X Box so that I can join their clan in Halo. I have not given this any thought as the house really does not need any more electrical boxes to plug into the network or the TV.
I did however mention my new computer...
It turns out that it is perfect for running all the up and coming games - the sort of games that most people are reportedly upgrading their machines to be able to play.
I asked the dumb question yesterday about compatibility with Half Life 2 and the capabilities of my graphics card. When one of the guys told me he was going to sulk I realized I must have a very good machine on my hands (in fact I reportedly have the best graphics card currently available).
The trouble is it would seem like I am getting sucked back into the game culture. It's not been helped knowing that Half Life 2 is apparently the dogs bollocks and is released today. My only quandary now is whether to actually purchase a copy?
Would I play it? Would I have any interest in it? Would my health and manners suffer on account of it?
I just don't know...
I wonder if there are any gay gamers out there?
