I really do appreciate this age of new technology and entertainment available to download. I think without it I would never be as experimental with my music purchases. iTunes has created a library of songs rather than albums just thinking of the money saved purchasing songs over CDs is frightening.
It seems that there has either been a rash of great new music or I have gone on a musical hunt.
After acquiring the latest Kaskade release, and Justices best efforts I am now plugged into the eclectic styles of Sam Sparro. I have been meaning to listen to this album for some time now and I have finally and happily bitten the bullet.
Lots of people have made comparisons to Prince over the years and I think few of them come close - Prince is simply my way of explaining Sam Sparro the album. It's such a mix of styles and vocal ranges that Prince must be Sam's inspiration.
The boy must be good as he comes recommended from no other than Chaka Khan.
This electro Aussie also gets points for singing on the left side of the dance hall!
Seriously though the album has few low points (trying to remember any) - I can see why he has become an overnight success.Labels: Gay, iTunes, Music

Why is it?

Why is it that the simplest of things can be so damn complicated?
I have been working from home today and have managed to crack on with a lot of work but I have had no end of problems with the connection to my office network - I know our broadband has been up, it's the level of security on my office laptop - it keeps kicking me off and it's infuriating!
I popped down to the high street at lunch and even there I was confronted with ridiculousness. I am attending a rather important awards ceremony in July and need a tuxedo. I don't own one so I thought I would hire one. After investigating online I noticed that Moss Bros deliver in the central London area. I decide to play it safe I'd go to my local branch for a fitting and to sort out the details. Unfortunately my local branch was not able to even then my measurements - when I told them I wanted delivery in London they informed me I have to go to a London branch to sort everything out! Looks like I will have to waste a lunch break now to sort out this job - what's the point in going to a company which has lots of branches if they are not prepared to work together?
Oh well it's nearly the weekend and I cannot wait to go and see the Sex and the City movie. Thankfully I pre-ordered our tickets - I found out yesterday that all the tickets in the West End have sold out.
It would seem Carrie and the girls are far more popular then Harrison Bored and the Last Crusade to Make Money from a die-ing franchise! Is there anyone who has actually enjoyed the latest Indi film?
I am enjoying the latest round of releases and think the new format is one that I can move forward with (in fact I have had lots of positive comments). I hope Release 5 grabs everyones attention and I also hope that you all get what I was trying to achieve with this edition. These releases take a bit longer to produce (I left the Mac rendering the video last night and uploaded whilst having my breakfast) - I think it's worth the effort though as Release is consistently in the iTunes Pod Cast charts. Thanks for all your support.Labels: Release

I am saddened to hear the news that local (and internationally renowned) artist Beryl Cook passed away today.

Washed out
Well it's safe to say this weekend has been as predictable as any other British Bank Holiday - the weather for the majority of the time has been appalling.
We drove to Hampton Court Palace in atrocious conditions yesterday but thankfully it cleared up while we were in the house.
Unusually I didn't take many photographs this weekend (which was a shame considering it was Robs birthday yesterday). I am very proud of some of the shots from the palace though. Please feel free to have a browse and leave a comment or two.
I was lovely to see Andy and Rob and as ever it's been far too long between visits. Richard and I will make every effort to see them again as soon as we can.
I am sure we all had a nice weekend regardless of the weather. The decision to have dinner in Richmond by the Thames yesterday was inspired - we all returned home very fat and full following our hearty meals.
We need a couple days to recover but sadly I am staring a week of work chaos straight in the face :(Labels: Friends, holiday, Photography, UK, Weather

What a week!
Thursday, May 22, 2008
I have not had any time to think or barely breath this week - it's been f*****g chaos! Thankfully tomorrow is Friday. That said it will be a chaotic day as I am spending the day with a film crew.
I did manage to record a series of Releases which I am most grateful for - it means I can produce Release 4 without worrying about having to record something! This Release features the last video pod cast from our recent trip to Spain. I hope you enjoy joining us on the drive along the coast.
There has been the odd bit of news I wanted to cover this week but I have come home so tired I simply haven't had the energy. I'll break it down to a digest.
Janet is touring (should put Grandma-donna in the shade), I feel the natural catastrophes in Burma and China are shocking and upsetting, we want to visit Pompeii, people updating their Facebook profiles with inane crap annoy me oh and it's Eurovision this weekend (not sure whether that's a good think or not!).
Anyway it'll probably quiet over the weekend as it's a public holiday here in the UK and Andy and Rob are visiting so I doubt there will be time for blogging etc - please let there be some nice weather so we can get out and about!
Adios amigos - until the next five minutes when I have a breather to write something!Labels: Facebook, Friends, holiday, Janet, Release, Weather, Work

I haven't been keeping track of the pod cast charts in iTunes so imagine my surprise when I noticed my latest pod cast adventure "Release", is currently in the top 25.
I am very proud and honoured to see this and I have to say thank you to you all for your continued support.
If you haven't tuned it yet be sure to subscribe - I always welcome feedback and comments.
Thanks again - you've all made my day!Labels: Release

Guernica brought alive
I truly feel Picasso's Guernica is the most moving painting ever created.
Lena Gieseke has created a fascinating 3D journey through the work.
I feel that you cannot really appreciate the power of this painting until you see it in the flesh (we were lucky enough to view it whilst in Madrid last year). This animation gives a very moving and interesting perspective on this great work.Labels: Art

I have now updated the original set of holiday photos with the shots featured in Release 3.
These will give you a clear view of the local wildlife we captured in Spain ;0)

I adore this song and I think the video is a work of genius..
If anyone has a decent sound quality copy of the video could they pass it on (I love this version with all the extra bits). The closing sequence makes me smile every time I see it.
I cannot wait to hear the remixes for this huge track.
Oh and the logos which were the inspiration for the video can be found here:

Release the men!
Thursday, May 15, 2008
Yes Release 3 has been let out and it is a very special video edition.
Whilst on holiday Richard and I spent some time admiring the local view, the Men of Torrox (well the cute ones at least).
Download this release to see what we managed to capture - I promise you will not be dissappointed!Labels: holiday, Hunks, Release, Travel

Poseable Thumb
OK so mans dominance over animals is mostly due to our poseable thumbs - is this what the Austrian ad agency were getting at with their weird ad for the Playstation 3?
Does this ad convey the message that gaming geeks would rather play with their thumbs than their cocks?Labels: Humour

Longest Pod Cast
Tuesday, May 13, 2008
I have reported about the Bear Essential Mixes in a recent pod cast and I want to mention it again.
For those who haven't subscribed it's a great free pod cast which features dance mixes from the South Coast Bears group here in Bournemouth in the UK.
The latest show is 3 and a half hours long and has taken me the best part of two days to listen to it (between commutes) - this isn't a negative comment, I think the show is brilliant. Espeically with the current spell of hot weather in the UK.
There are no ad's apart from a mention of the DJ's name at the beginning which is DJ Charlie who is one of the resident DJs on the South Coast Bear set in the UK. I highly recommend this pod cast - for some great free, up to date dance music you have to download it!
Another great South Coast DJ is DJ Si Cub and you can find out more about him here he has also done some excellent mixes that are well worth checking out.Labels: Music

Ola!
Sunday, May 11, 2008
Well I think it's safe to say that Richard and I have had a thoroughly relaxing holiday (except for a minor problem with our car which meant we had to get earlier return flights...)
We had promised ourselves a week of relaxing and that's exactly what we did. The weather was very nice and warm and I think I did an excellent job to control my tan without burning!
I have uploaded a selection of photographs from our time on the Torrox Costa - more will follow, as will a couple of Releases. The first of which will transport you to a day in El Morche with us, enjoy the the sights and relaxing on the beach.
There is enough footage for a couple video pod casts (I am working on a special Men of Torrox edition ;0) )
Enjoy the photos and download the first video pod cast from Spain here.Labels: holiday, Hunks, My World, Photography, Travel, Weather

Adios Amigos!
Sunday, May 04, 2008
As we prepare to head off to sunnier climbs I am reminded about an image people from my neck of the woods have. It's an image that people from Plymouth (and or Devon I am not clear how far this thought extends), don't travel too far. They don't drive too far and they certainly don't leave the country.
It's a really old fashioned stereo type but nonetheless one I grew up with. It has a lot to do with it's location and the road infrastructure but I am sure as time goes by the image may have been somewhat diluted. I cannot guarantee this either way as I have not been living in Devon for the best part of ten years.
I moved that long ago and as it would appear so did a high proportion of the people I went to school with. There are a number of them left in Plymouth, Facebook is testament to that. I am not criticizing them I am simply noting my observations.
I like to think I buck the trend either with the amount of travel I achieve annual through work (believe me though it could be much more if I were in a different position) or the holidays Richard and I take as often as we can.
Anyway I digress, we're out to El Morche for our annual week of switching off, enjoying nothing but one anothers company, the sun, the sea, the sand, the pool and the odd siesta. It really is a great time away and we both feel we are really in need of some down time.
Sadly I have been unable to find anything to take to read as all the book shops stock the same commercial rubbish - I just hope I might find some hidden gem at the airport tomorrow (although I don't hold out too much hope).
Adios for now - see you on the other side!
P.S. I promise not to come back this year and scare you with images of me in my Aussiebums!Labels: holiday, Plymouth, Travel

No money?
Saturday, May 03, 2008
I always find it amazing how my company says it needs to cut costs and be more economical and yet it throws up constant surprises.
I was away on a two day workshop Thursday and Friday at Four Acres in Kingston-upon-Thames. Imagine my surprise (and delight) when I pulled up outside this place!
Typically English and rather splendid in the spring sunshine.Labels: UK, Work

This Candy Tastes Like Poo
Would someone please tell me who a) bought Hard Candy* and b) actually listen to it?
With all the hype etc that surrounds a normal Madonnas release it's obvious that once again the hype has taken over from the content of the album. That content is shit.
This has to be one of the biggest piles of crap I have skipped through in a long time. It sounds like this album was thrown together to fit the market and it just highlights all those flaws in Madonnas voice that are usually masked by over production.
Please let this be the beginning of the end...
Save your money people - or spend it on some real sweets - believe me they will last much longer than this album and give you much more enjoyment!
(*Please note I did not part with any cash to hear this album, I used online streaming sites to hear it - gladly I do not have the level of free time or will power needed to listen to every track in full as the Devil had originally intended!).Labels: Music

Sigh
Well my design submissions to Threadless made it into the voting but I wasn't around to promote them :(
They did score but due to the change in rules they were removed from the running early.
That said I received positive comments about Midnight Flight and some good constructive comments about Jump!
I think I may spend some of my down time on holiday next week to think up some new designs.Labels: Threadless
