It's been nearly a week of feeling absolutely rotten and finally I am back out in amongst humanity.I have had a bought of Bronchitis which is not too dissimilar to the awful episode I suffered last October. I am still on a heavy course of anti biotics which is a bit if a nuisance as I have a weekend of celebrations coming up. I cannot complain though as they are making me feel much better. Tomorrow is my 34th birthday. I cannot believe it has come around so quickly. We are helping two close friend celebrate this weekend also. After nine years together they are getting married. As you can tell it is going to be a very eventful weekend.
The weather has been particularly awful today. The majority of the UK was (and still is) battered by gale force winds and heavy rain. I took this shot late this afternoon from the roof at work - it's the only very brief pause in the weather.

All hail the new iPod nano and yes it's pink!
Now let's count and see how many flighty queens will be mincing through Soho (or Boho) with one of these before the weeks out!Labels: Apple

Sporty Mii!
Sunday, January 20, 2008
Since Christmas Richard has been trying to get hold of a copy of Mario & Sonic at the Olympics as the boys reliably informed we could play this over Ninty Wifi.
We have finally got hold of a copy but now realize this is not the case - sadly all you can do is swap scores. What's the point? Isn't it about time Nintendo make proper use of Nintendo Wifi Connect 24 on the Wii - they can do it on the DS why not the Wii?
Still that said Olympics is an entertaining game and a decent alternative to Wii Sports.
It's the only time you'll ever see Mii in Lycra (Spandex to you in the USA) - so make the most of it!
It's a shame my neck is shagged as I would love to play harder - sadly I cannot and feel that I should lay off the Wii for a while until my neck is better :(Labels: My World, Photography, Wii

Non Day
Saturday, January 19, 2008
Today has been a non day and not just because of the torrential rain.
I managed to pull my neck during work yesterday and have been in agony. My baby was kind enough to get me some heat wraps though - this has made the pain slightly more bearable.
I feel guilty for feeling so ill but with the weather as bad as it is, it's not like we would have done anything today anyway.
I have managed to record a Trunk Cast and this episode is a continuation of the last one - it feels nice to be able to follow up on items! Why not have a listen?
Note as an update to the previous blog entry, I have managed to work how how to have multiple icons on one web site for use on Home Screen Widgets in iPhone and iPod Touch. Bookmark either Trunk Guy.com or the Trunk Cast page to see what I mean ;0)Labels: Apple, Richard, Trunk Cast, Weather

Lucky Escape

I am so glad I am nowhere near Heathrow today - with this BA plane coming down I cannot imagine the level of chaos there.
The pilot really has to be commended though - current reports suggest that the plane lost all power and he had to glide it in to land. Of course these planes are designed to do just that but to get the 777 safely on the ground with no injuries is commendable.
As you can imagine this has been a major talking point in the office today, especially as all European BA flights have been suspended - there are a lot of delegates in London for meetings etc whom won't be going home tonight!Labels: News

Touched up!

I upgraded my iPod Touch last night and I love all the new features. I don't care it cost me £12 as I really do think it was worth it ;0)
Great news - if you have a touch or an iPhone and are adding a widget link to your home screen, you don't have to worry about picking an image - thanks to fantastic information found online, I have created an automatic logo ;0) Try it!Labels: Apple

So today's the day that Steve Jobs gives his 08 address to the faithful at MacExpo.
Isn't it interesting that the whole technology and media world waits to see what Apple has to say - principally because if it's a good or a bad idea, everyone else will start to try and copy it or integrate with it over the coming year.
As ever there is plenty of speculation but I am happy to wait and see what is announced later today...
As you can see Apple have done it again - as predicted the ultra thin MacBook Air*. 80gb hard drive, full size keyboard, built in iSight camera, LCD display, 3lbs in weight and a large touchpad which operates like the iPod Touch! The whole think fits inside a (A4) envelope!
802.11n wireless, Bluetooth 2.1 + EDR!
No optical drive but the MBA*has the capability to read optical drives from any other available n the vicinity - therefore software updates are all done wirelessly. With the launch of iTunes Movie rental DVD/HD - this could spell the end of DVDs!
It's a 13" widescreen but only .76 x .16 inches thick!
Do I want one? Is Robbie Williams a screaming fag? YES!
Oh and is it extortion to charge Touch users £12 for the free iPhone update with all the extra functions - possibly. But that didnt' stop me buying it - especially as it gives my Email access no - and legitimately too!Labels: Apple

My World
Sunday, January 13, 2008
Thanks to everyone who took part in the recent poll regarding my thoughts about starting a new photo diary.
I have now set up a new set on Flickr (not helped by Flickrs recent bought of hiccups) and have called it My World.
My aim is to take a photo every day and upload it to the set for you to view.
The results of ths poll are clear, you would like me to take a photo of anything I wanted, not necessarily just photos of me. As this is a collection I am creating and it's not within the restraints of a Flickr group I will say now that I plan to take photos of anything.
This could be where I am, what I am looking at, interesting things I encounter or even me.
Hopefully this will prove to be an interesting archive of my coming year.
I know that it's already the 13th January so to start things off I took some interesting macro shots this morning and have started the set with four shots.
Keep and eye open for what comes next.
Let me know what you think about my efforts by either emailing me of leaving comments on Flickr. If you can think of a particular photographic challenge you'd like to see my try, then drop me a line with your suggestion.Labels: My World, Photography

...of paint!
If you listened to Trunk Cast 119 you will know that I mentioned I had planned to redecorate around here - well as you will no doubt notice, I have done just that. And all without the aid of dungarees of some council estate type strutting about with his ass crack showing!
I wanted to go with something quite radically different from the old look and even though some of the elements remain (as I like to be consistent), I am sure you will agree this new lick of paint has really helped refresh TrunkGuy.com.
As ever I am very interested to hear what you think.
Also mentioned in Trunk Cast 119 was the results of the Photography poll - listen to the pod cast for the full info but basically this will happen very soon as you have voted to have me snapping daily. I am sure this will become a regular feature of both the blog and future Trunk Casts.
I trust you are all having a good weekend - have fun whatever you are up to!
P.S. Visitors may recall the level of eye candy I used to feature, well after the Happy New Rear guy seemed so successful I have decided to bring this feature back. Take a look at the hottie on the right to get a taste of what is to come ;0) (Feel free to submit your own pics!)Labels: Photography, Trunk Cast

WTFeedback!
Wednesday, January 09, 2008
Err a couple weeks ago I wrote about Janet's new single Feedback. Now I wasn't very kind and to be honest I take some of my venom back as I have played the song quite a bit - it's grown on me and my faith in Janet is returning.
That is until I saw the video for the single. What the fuck feedback! It's awful! It's a cheap hash of numerous ideas, a mash of Super Mario Galaxy, every naff James Bond opening credit and some sick twisted s&m fantasy with Janet flicking this ridiculously large pony tail around (obviously fake).
Come on Miss Janet, where's the excellent pop music, the fantastic dance beat and the humour - what's with all this dark material?
Now my expectations of the new album have taken another nose dive.
Click the pic to view the video...
Oh and as for the closing routine in the red cat suit - watching Brandy throw up is more entertaining!Labels: Janet, Music

Office Narcolepsy
Saturday, January 05, 2008
It is safe to say that only a fraction of the staff have returned to work this week - which (as I mentioned in Trunk Cast 118) is probably to be expected. The majority of the people in my building are foreign and therefore have gone home for Christmas - this means these people have taken longer breaks in order to go home.
This has meant that the three days I have been in this week have gone very slowly as there hasn't really been that much going on. I think everyone who came in made reference to how the time was dragging. There is however a flip side to this as we have all managed to get all those niggly little jobs out of the way and I am sure the time was spent wisely as next week things will get back to there normal rate of chaos as I am sure everyone will return to work.
If you listened to show 118 I mentioned the Christmas decorations, well they came down last night and now the house looks rather bare and less festive without them. At least it's done, Io think I hate taking decorations down ass much as I do putting them up - only because of the amount of time it takes (and care as 70% of our tree decorations are glass).
Photo a day
You may recall I used to have a pic-a-day gallery on Flickr which I featured heavily on here - this was a gallery of anything that caught my eye, but principally just one picture a day.
Last year I took it further and joined the 365 project on Flickr taking a photo a day of myself - but to be honest I only got half way into the year after having run out of ideas.
I am thinking of resurrecting one of these ideas as it's a great way to generate content but what I would liek to know if what do you think? Please fill in your response here so that I can gauge visitor opinion. If you would like to make further comment about this please email me |

Where have I heard that before?
Thursday, January 03, 2008
Confused by the title? Listen the the Trunk Cast regularly? Listen to show 118 to find out what I am on about - seems like it's not just the pod casting fraternity who use GarageBand to create music!
I haven't blogged yet this week - mainly because I have managed to churn out two Trunk Casts in one week! Believe me this level of production won't keep up for long (not when work kicks in again).

And relax...
Tuesday, January 01, 2008
It's been a nice festive period although as ever it all seems to be over far too quickly.
Richard and I enjoyed a nice quiet time at home where we snuggled up in front of a roaring fire, full of Christmas roast (beef not turkey) and lots of nibbles.
On Boxing Day we travelled down to Devon where we visited our friends and families. Miraculously we managed to avoid Christmas dinner until Saturday when Richard and I enjoyed a turkey roast with my parents.
Of course Richard's nephews had heaps of presents, as did my god daughter and her sisters.
My parents have extended the family by adopting two kittens from their neighbour (long story). As you can imagine having two 12 week old kittens running about the house was very entertaining.
Here I am relaxing with Jinx, the little girl.
This photo was taken after our Christmas lunch on Saturday and as you can see I was very tired! In fact I think we all enjoyed 40 winks that afternoon.
I've had a bit of a trauma rebuilding my iBook as my start up sectors became corrupt. It took most of New Years Eve to reinstall everything but 99% of it appears to be working now (I just need to iron out some kinks). Hopefully I'll have it working fully today so that I can put together a podcast.
I cannot quite believe we're in 2008 already - I still think of us being somewhere around the year 2000 but we're not! Where does the time go?
2007 was a good year but it had a number of upsets and I hope this isn't the case throughout 2008.
Thanks to all of you who sent lovely festive and New Years messages and as I have noticed Happy New Rear was very popular!
All the best and here's to a great 2008.
I'll leave you with a photo of Jinx's brother Jasper.
