Great weekend

Monday, July 30, 2007

We have had a great weekend. A number of our friends came to ours on Sunday to wish Richard a belated Happy Birthday.

We ended up having a dual celebration as Liz and Colin got engaged on Saturday.

Thankfully the weather decided to behave and after a last minute decision we moved the party to the garden. This was definitely the right move as it made for a relaxing, civil afternoon.

Of course some of our friends wanted to try out the Wii. I am not sure if I will ever be able to shift the image of Lawrence boxing!

Special thanks have to go to Gwyn for her delicious trifle!

I didn't take many photos but I plan to browse what I did take and share them tonight.

Screams of Passion

Saturday, July 28, 2007

Thanks to Pop Muse for sharing bringing this video to my attention.

I love this song and have never seen the video.

It's very reminiscent of the video for Raspberry Beret but then why wouldn't it be as Prince is the man behind The Family ;o)

No Cast this week

Thursday, July 26, 2007

Transformed Me (141)I have been thinking about when I can get a show recorded this week and I am afraid there is no opportunity for me to do so.

It's been another unbearable week and I really do not have the time or the energy.

I am sure when I do record my next show there will be plenty to say.

For now I am focusing on making it through this week and heading towards the weekend. At least Richard has invited some friends over to help him belatedly celebrate his birthday.

I have by some small miracle managed to keep up my 365 days set in Flickr although this weeks photos are a little sporadic in style - I think they reflect my mood perfectly though!

Oh if any of you are on Facebook, keep an eye out for me and Brandy too as she now has her own Catbook page ;o)

Fantastic

Saturday, July 21, 2007

I thoroughly enjoyed the Transformers movie this afternoon, if you have not seen it I highly recommend it.

I found it funny, action packed and very entertaining. Yes the story is a little thin and it does seem like an exercise from Hasbro to sell more toys but who cares?

Cinema is supposed to be about escapism isn't it? Well you can truly escape in this movie.

I think it's a great film and was very pleased to see a lot of the Generation One story lines were preserved, as were the characters. Optimus Prime is just as weedy as ever!

The transformations were very slick and very fluid and you can tell there was a lot of thought and time put into how the Transformers would animate. I love all the touches and the flourishes they have added.

I am also amazed that a film of such calibre only has one recognisable face and yet all the actors do a sterling job.

This is definitely a movie you have to see at the cinema and as I said before I highly recommend this film.

Dodgy Graphics?

We're off to see the preview screening of Transformers this afternoon in the West End and I am more than a little excited.

I do hope the graphics are a bit more believable than this lot!

Chelsea Rodgers was a Model...

Sunday, July 15, 2007

Calling Planet Earth (130)Calling Planet Earth, it's 8 am on a Sunday, I have just got up, grabbed the first clothes to hand, got dressed and headed off to the newsagent.

Why?

Prince's new album was given away today in the Daily Fascist Mail. I know I will get a free copy with my concert ticket in a couple of weeks but who could resist such an offer? The entire album for the cost of the newspaper (£1.40)!

First listen it sounds like Prince is back on form and I am really looking forward to the concerts in a couple of weeks ;o)

The stand out track has to be Chelsea Rodgers. You can tell there has been a re-introduction of Wendy and Lisa as parts of the album sound familiar (Purple Rain familiar).

"Chelsea Rodgers was a model..."

simpsonsmeOh and this is my Simpsons Avatar (well, everyone else is doing it!)

(This doesn't mean I am going to see the movie though!)

Unlike Transformers as Richard and I are off to see the preview screening at the Empire, Leicester Square next weekend :o)

Unnesseccary Security?

Saturday, July 14, 2007

Unnesseccary Security? (129)I am all for secure transactions and keeping my data safe but I think this is a step too far.

This morning I received my NatWest card reader which generates a code for use when completing transactions online.

I theory this is great but in practice it's a complicated step. I also make purchases from work - I guess this now means I will have to take this dam gizmo to the office every day!

WaTcHoUt!*

Friday, July 13, 2007

It's been a more than unusual week at work as we moved into our new premises this week. I say new as we have moved back into our old building but it has been completely refurbished. So much so the old name has been removed and it's been renamed to 100 VE.

You won't be able to miss it on the bank of the Thames it's an imposing 1920's Art Deco building but now the interior is a swish technical heaven!

I took some snaps when we first went to view it and today whilst enjoying my lunch on the roof over looking London. I think we have a better view than the tourists who go up in the eye (and we get paid to be there!)

Vanessa has been a complete star today and has managed to come up trumps for the Prince concert we are attending on the 4th August. Not only are we going to see the MPLS genius at the 02, we have also managed to secure tickets to the After show Party! I have been fortunate enough to attend some of these in the past and it feels odd to be acquiring tickets before the event but I know it's going to be worth it.

I think it will be a very late night on the 4th (giving me just about enough time to recover to do it all over again on the 7th ;o) )

* this was meant to sound like Prince's opening scream from Gett off

Happy 40th (again!)

Tuesday, July 10, 2007

This weekend we went home for our usual family visit. Of course this was no ordinary family visit.

I had managed to arrange a surprise get together with Richard and my family to help him celebrate his 40th birthday.

This is the photo's from the party:

Much to mine and Richard's surprise my parents managed to join us at the party. I was not sure this would be possible as mum was only discharged from hospital two days before following her heart operation. I am so happy to see my mum looking so well following the surgery. Of course she is still very sore and needs to rest but she is a real fighter and I find it amazing that she managed to get herself together so soon to join us all. She certainly made an impact as Richard's eldest nephew Thomas thinks my mum is cool!

Dad also looked very well considering the stressful period they have both been through.

It's already Tuesday and we are already knackered. Thankfully we have no plans this week so we are doing sweet fanny adams!

By then I hope to have filled you all in on our wonderful trip to Madrid either by pod cast or via the blog. Don't forget all of the photo's from this holiday are now online.

Madrid - in bite sized (c)hunks

Wednesday, July 04, 2007

As I am dog tired and I have hundreds of photo's to go through I have decided to break down the task and release sets of photos to make it easier to digest.

Luckily for you the first set happens to be all the beautiful bodies we snapped at Euro Pride ;0)

Adios Madrid

Madrid Airport

We had a wonderful time in Madrid. The people were friendly, the weather got and the sights interesting and varied (and yes I do mean the buildings and the hot guys at Euro Pride!)

Sadly we're back to the grindstone and we're back in a country once again gripped by terror alerts.

I will post a better entry and photos tonight.
