I sometimes think...
Thursday, November 30, 2006
The husband or the hedonist The businessman or the communist The artist or the showbiz creep The lover or the nervous geek The question of identity is one that's always haunted me Whoever I decide to be depends on who is with me
The tactless twit putting his foot in it or the sensitive soul who's a role model The urban jet setter never at home or the country recluse, just leave me alone Extrovert or introvert Love is kind and love hurts Rebellion or conformity
What is my identity?
The intellectual and bon viveur or the naive simpleton so immature The devoted son and family man or the wicked uncle who doesn't give a damn How often these have tempted me The question of identity depends on what I'm meant to be
I sometimes think that I'm too many people too many people, too many people at onceLabels: Pet Shop Boys

Passion

Passion, Love, Sex, Money, Violence, Religion. Injustice, Death
Well it's a more exciting way of describing my week so far!
Apart from the normal hum drum at work there was a bit of excitement today as we got to see our new old building (the company moved out, sold it, renovated it and are moving back in in 2007!).
It was very interesting to see what has happened to the innards of this splendid building but I did feel sorry for it's old art deco soul - the guts literally have been ripped out.
I am very pleased that the original facade, the reception and the marvellous marble stair case have been restored to their formal glory.
It's been chucking it down with rain today and I got absolutely soaked on my way to the station this morning - this is one time when jeans are not very practical - it took me nearly two hours to dry off (the hair dryer in the mens was f**king useless!)
Death? Yes. My mum informed me her eldest brother had passed away. I was surprised. I remember him when he was in his 50's, which is the last time I saw him. He died at the age of 71. Funny how people age without you realising.
Religion? Well only in so much that I have been listening to Eddie Izzards Glorious tour on my iPod. It was all I could do to stop myself bursting out laughing on the train yesterday - probably just as well I did though as I got sandwiched between two commuters who had earlier been arguing!
Girls, boys, arts, pleasure, food, cars, travel, New York, New York, New York. Thank you ;)

Typical!
Monday, November 27, 2006
Thanks to Richard for bringing to my attention the fact that my comments don't work.
Against my better judgment I upgraded my Blogger account and as I predicted it bloody broke!
Why did I bother? I knew I should have left well alone!
For the immediate future, if you have any comments you would like to make regarding my blog entries, please email me.
Update by some minor miracle, this is now working again!

All hail and thunder?
Sunday, November 26, 2006
What is up with the weather? For as long as I can remember we have never had thunder and lightening in November before.
Yesterday's weather was pretty weird too as we ended up with thunder, lightening, torrential rain and hail!
I hope this isn't the shape of things to come.Labels: Weather

Damn you blogger!
Saturday, November 25, 2006
OK heres the deal; Blogger keeps trying to get me to upgrade to the new version and I am loathe to do this as I fear that it will mean a weekend of playing around with settings to get my blog back to what it was.
I am also concerned as Blogger has not been working properly for some time. I have a number of applications that allow me to post direct to Blogger both on my PC and my Mac and yet none of them have been very successfully in posting lately. This means I have to redo everything, or at least create the post and cut and past into the Blogger browser app.
I have been thinking to move to one of the paid services but am not sure how easy it would be to recreate my blog (and podcast page) set up on other services... Have you had experience with them? What do you recommend?

Happiness is an option
Friday, November 24, 2006
This is neither old nor new It's always, forever Somewhere between sense and ambition pleasure and decision we have to make a choice What do we want? Everyone singing 'War, what is it good for?' while planning for next week I don't need to win You don't have to lose We can choose Happiness is an option

Wednesday?
Wednesday, November 22, 2006
I cannot believe it is Wednesday already; where has the week gone?
To be honest I cannot believe where the year has gone - Next Friday is the first of December! It's just as well I have started purchasing my Christmas presents online...
It's got colder and wetter so I know we're heading into winter - I just hope the public transport system can cope. With so many failures in London on Monday I don't hold out much hope!

Mr Not-so-Angry!
Saturday, November 18, 2006
I recorded a Trunk Cast yesterday and it was probably not the best of days to record the show. I think the introductory flavour would definitely be bitter.
Still it made me feel better to get that load off!
I don't think I could ever be as angry as this poor kitty though.
At least we have a nice weekend planned. I think I may haul ass down the shops today and make a start on getting some Christmas presents.
This won't be before we get the house ready for tomorrow as we have friends over for Sunday lunch.

Maybe next year

I have just learnt that Trunk Guy was not successful in the two categories for which it was nominated in this years Gay Bloggies.
Of course I am disappointed but it was an honour to be nominated and I would like to extend warm thanks and gratitude to everyone who nominated and voted for me.
Thank you all for your continual support.
Don't forget you can still vote for me in the Lone Star Verve Awards
Why not help my December start with a bang - vote for me and give me a very Happy Christmas! :)
Thanks again!

Icing on the cake
I am sure I have mentioned before in the blog and within my Trunk Casts that I have a friend in New Zealand and another serving with the armed forces in Afghanistan.
Well we thought it would be nice to send regards to these distant friends and post some pieces of our wedding cake.
I am pleased to announce that in around ten days the cake arrived in the Southern Hemisphere and was enjoyed with a cup of tea.
The same can be said of the cake which went deep into one of the war zones of Afghanistan - it's also made me really happy to hear that receiving such a gift has produced a welcome ray of light into what is otherwise a dark stressful period in the Middle East.
If only all the worlds troubles could be fixed with a piece of cake.

Weekender
Monday, November 13, 2006
We have returned from a very hectic but enjoyable weekend at home (Devon).
Our drive down wasn't too bad but sadly yesterday it was bumper to bumper all the way.
It was excellent to catch up with family and some friends, especially after the Big Event as we had so much to catch up on.
We also managed to acquire another round of photographs and videos. One such video is of Richard's speech. It's very good but I am afraid too big to upload or pod cast.
I had immense fun at Sarah and Steve's this weekend as I got to spend the afternoon with my god daughter Laura and her two sisters Rachel and Michelle. I am sure I have said this before but I have no idea how Sarah and Steve have the stamina to look after three energetic little girls but they do and they are doing a sterling job. I am so very impressed with all of their progress, Laura spent some time reading her story books to me and she's very very good.
This is our last trip home until Christmas which just goes to prove how quickly the year has gone. We've decided again it would be nice for the pair of us to spend Christmas and Boxing Day together so that we can relax and enjoy one another's company.
I was very thrilled to hear from Di that the wedding cake we sent out to New Zealand not only arrived, but arrived in little over a week and was edible! Now I wonder if the other long distance piece arrived with my friend serving in Afghanistan? Love Foolosophy from the album "High Times Singles 1992-2006" by Knee Deep Remix

Friday
Well the week has moved on but it's been really slow and tiring this week.
At least I managed to get a Trunk Cast published this week - that's mainly thanks in part to Bogdana who gave me some photos from our ceremony and this included a wonderful video of the candle ceremony.
We won't have a rest this weekend though as we're travelling down to Devon on Saturday morning and returning on Sunday. It's nice to go home and see my parents but the journey just wipes us out.
Ben came over for dinner last night and he showed us this great web site. This is Bens brother Peter who has recently turned his attention to becoming a singer.
It's a fun site and I wish him all the best. He certainly has guts to pursue his dreams in such a manner.
I guess I'll see you all at the other end of the weekend. Have a good one!

Tuesday!
Tuesday, November 07, 2006
Oh good grief, is it really only just Tuesday! What a week.
At least I have a new selection of photo's to enjoy from the Big Event.
Thanks to Bogdana we also have a lovely video of our candle lighting ceremony :)
And I know there are more photographs to come so I will have many more highlights from the big day to look forward to ;)
Right three days until the weekend...

Well it certainly feels like autumn has hit with a vengeance. We've had such mild weather for such a long time that this cold spell has taken everyone by surprise.
Of course I think I may be feeling it a bit more this year as I am walking to the station and hanging around on cold wind swept platforms for trains (my station in London is on an exposed bridge above the river Thames).
This meant there was an evolution of jackets this week. I started with a hoodie, my blazer, my mid winter coat and finally ended up in my full length overcoat - all in the space of four days! It was a wise move though as the mornings and evenings have been very chilly. There has been an awful lot of frost around.
Of course being autumn it's not too cold at mid day so I am having to remember to layer my clothes so I don't sweat like crazy when I go for my walks along the Thames at lunch!
I am not sure how winter will turn out this year - I know it'll be cold but the past couple of years I have been working in the countryside, I come from the coast so I am used to milder winters. I am pretty sure winter in central London will be fairly mild too. It'll just be the bit from home to and from work which will potentially freeze the balls of a brass monkey!
Looks like I'll be putting an order for some thermals at Howies!
Oh well at least we still have autumn and winter, I'm glad to see global warming hasn't taken that away yet!
Oh an whilst listening to Get Lifted I must say that John Legends new album Once Again is just beautiful. He's done another superb job of mixing his contemporary sound with his lovely soul voice and wonderful use of the piano. Put it on your Christmas list!
