Relaxed or exhausted?
Sunday, October 29, 2006
Saturday was spent writing thank you notes to all our guests and printing photographs from our ceremony.
This morning I finally managed to upload photographs from our honeymoon in Suffolk. There are some wonderfully broody autumnal shots in this collection and I am very proud of our captures.
Of course there is two places to view photos from the Big Event. One is the Big Event Group on Flickr which is a collection of photographs from us and our guests (a collection which is growing day by day). The other is of an edited version of all our our photos with a collection of our favourites from everyone elses which I have placed into a Flickr Set.
I also managed to squeeze some time in this morning (thanks to the end of British Summer Time and thus gaining an hour), to record my latest Trunk Cast. Show 61 is my account of our big day - well as much as I could squeeze into twenty minutes! Please have a listen, look at the photos and let me know what you think.
I am sure there are lots of things missing from the Trunk Cast but as I explain there was so much to take in, I am pretty sure I will be recalling bits and pieces for months!
I wanted to take this opportunity to say thanks to Adam over at This Boy Elroy for the lovely congratulatory blog entry and I must say hi to Matt who seems to be the Trunk Guy.com Trunk Casts biggest fan :)

Only one hitch...
Friday, October 27, 2006
I am happy to announce that the Big Event went off without a hitch (well apart from the one that was planned).
All of our friends and family turned up and made us feel very humble and very proud.
As planned at 4pm on Saturday the 21st October, Richard and I became Civil Partners.
The venue was lovely. The food was really nice. The company was excellent. Richard and I truly had a memorable day (although I must admit to not actually remembering much of it until we were on our way to the Barn on Monday!).
If anyone ever tells you that ceremonies and weddings go by so quickly, believe them! There really was so much to take in and the ceremony was over before we knew it.
It was lovely to hear all the wonderful comments about our vows, our ceremony and our commitment to one another.
The Big Event truly was a magical, wonderful experience.
I have uploaded some of the photographs taken by Richard's dad and hope to feature those of our guests (when I receive them - hint!).
Watch out for the next Trunk Cast (61), where I plan to go into much more detail.
(If anyone could recommend a program to resurrect photos from a defunct Compact Flash card I would very much appreciate it as sadly a card full of ceremony shots, kindly taken by friends of ours; corrupted during the day :( )Labels: Big Event

Tangerine
Friday, October 20, 2006
No not a short Prince song from about 8 years ago but a wonderful little Mac app that lets you create playlists with upbeat music, or playlists for relaxing. It does this by analyzing the BPM and beat intensity of the songs in your iTunes library.
Pretty neat huh!
Check out their site for more information. Tangerine from the album "Rave Un2 The Joy Fantastic" by Prince

2 days to go!
Thursday, October 19, 2006
Ok so we're 99% of the way there for Saturday.
I have had plenty of time to run around tying up loose ends today.
Apart from trying to get a response from the florist and a few odd bits to cement, we're ready.
I thought you might like to hear what we have selected for music on the day?
I hope not too many guests see this as I want it to be a surprise (therefore I am complicating matters by creating iMixs, I know not all the tunes may b on iTunes, but it'll give you an idea).
When we enter the ceremony track one from this play list will be playing. Tracks 2 and 3 have been selected whilst we sign the register.
There is a disc full of music selected by Richard and a disc to follow which I have put together which is a collection of music which reminds us of one another (it's quite contemporary and eclectic)... Some of this playlist can be heard in this iMix (there are surprisingly another 7 songs which do not feature in iTunes).

Relief!
Tuesday, October 17, 2006
Relief? Yes relief! Relief that Richard finally got a resolution to his problem tooth - our dentist finally removed yesterday under an emergency appointment. It turned out the tooth was dead anyway.
Richard looks and sounds like his normal self - which is quite a relief with 3 days until the big day!
I have now returned from my Team Event and am relieved to be back home. I am very tired and am loosing sleep, thinking of Ceremony things but I know after Wednesday I am off.
If there is anything outstanding (which I doubt), I'll have time to crack it. And if I don't, it's just too bad ;)
I had plenty of time to think about the Ceremony in the car on the way home (my driver was almost a mute). It occurred to me that everyone we know, love and or are related to will be in the same room at the same time. These people have taken their time to help us celebrate our love for one another and I feel very humbled, privileged and honored.
I am really excited about Saturday. ;)
Thanks to those of you who have been kind enough to send Richard and I your regards, they are very much appreciated. Thank you x

Less than a week to go...
Sunday, October 15, 2006
OK it's less than a week until the big day and Richard and I are sorted. We have done everything we possibly have/need to.
Now all we have to get through is Richard's current battle with an infected wisdom tooth :(
Of course we both have a week at work to endure too (and as I am away for a couple days with the team, I have a feeling my week will seem longer than it really is).
I am not sure how much time I will have to blog this week (especially with being away), but I may try and squeeze in one last entry by the end of the week. Thanks to everyone who have already sent Richard and I their congratulations.
I promise after the Big Event that I will give you a full run down in the blog and on the next Trunk Cast. I will also share the best photographs with you so you can see how the big day went.
I have a request for you guys, there are two Gay Blog Competitions running at present and I would love to be nominated. I would be interested to see how many nominations I receive and to find out how well Trunk Guy gets on.
The first is from the guys over at Queer Click who are running this years Gay Bloggies. There are lots of categories and I have submitted a form with my favourites - please nominate me :)
The other the Verve Weblog Awards - please follow the link or click on the vote button here to nominate me.
Oh yes - thanks to everyone who have sent me comments regarding Richard and I in the pool as seen in Trunk Cast 60 ;)Labels: Big Event

The further I slide...
Monday, October 09, 2006
This isn't me but I was one of the first to go down and it was very fast.
Apparently you can reach up to 30 Mph whilst hurtling down the slides.
I doubt I'll go down slide 5 though (the biggie!).
More picces here. (Carsten Holler, "Test Site" installation in the Turbine Hall of London's Tate Modern Gallery).

Stuff and nonsense
Sunday, October 08, 2006
It is less than a fortnight from the date of the Big Event and things are in full swing here.
To be honest I think I have done everything I need to do before the ceremony, the candles have been purchased for the ceremony, all the decorations are in order, we have printed the Order of the Day etc...
I think Richard has a few small jobs outstanding and then that's it... We are on the final countdown.
I did have a pair of new shoes which I purchased before I started my new job. They were OK but I have been wearing soft shoes (trainers etc) for the past couple of months so when I put my wedding shoes back on to break them in I found myself in agony :( The ball of my right foot is just so painful. Therefore there was nothing else for it, I ended up buying a new pair of formal shoes yesterday, but ones with a soft flexible insole. I am currently sat here wearing them, breaking them in! I may wear them to work at some stage but I am paranoid someone will stand on them and scuff them. (As did happen on the train this week with my trainers).
It would seem that when you get so far with the arrangements for a wedding or civil partnership that you have to stop worrying about yourself and start to organise other people. I have lost count of the conversations I have had or had mentioned to me which include lines such as:When is it again?- What is the dress code?
- Is there a colour scheme?
- Where is it?
- Is there a gift list?
I wouldn't mind but all of these questions were answered with the web site that accompanies the invitation! LOL
Still I shouldn't complain, it's lovely to think so many people are interested and committed to helping us celebrate our very special day.
The plan for the day has been mapped out too so apart from anything unexpected (the odd small child throwing up etc), I am sure it'll run like clock work.
I did speak to Helen this week to wish her well. Unfortunately for her and I she has been drafted to Afghanistan and her ship departed the Royal Navy's Dockyard in Plymouth yesterday. Helen is a Naval Nurse and will be providing medical back up to all of our troops out in the middle east.
It's a double whammy for Helen though as she too is getting married in early 2007, unfortunately for her though, she cannot guarantee when she may return (as is the nature of military procedures), and there may be little or no time between Helen's return and her own wedding.
All I can really say is that Richard and I are so very proud of her for protecting our country in this manner and hope she has a safe passage to and from Afghanistan. We look forward to seeing you in 2007 H.

Sliding along
As if the preparations weren't enough to contend with, as you know we have already had two mini breaks, I have been planning a team workshop (of three days) and am due on a another event for two days, the week before the Big Event.
Well just to keep us from getting bored we have been invited to the Launch Show of Carsten Höllers' "Slides" at the Tate Modern on Monday.
I am not entirely sure what to make of the exhibition as I have seen it so far but I know I will want to try the slides out! I doubt Richard will want to have a go though. The photo's do not give the true sense of scale as the Turbine Hall in the Tate Modern is truly a massive exhibition space... Looks like this will be another big crowd puller thanks to the Unilever Series (these are annual exhibitions/commisions supported by Unilever).
Look out for my photo's of the event next week. I must remember to charge my camera!

Busy bee
Friday, October 06, 2006
Guys (and gals), I really have been very very busy this week so I apologize for the lack of blog entries.
I have uploaded Trunk Cast 60 and as it states this will be the last show for a couple of weeks due to all the preparations of the big event in a couple of weeks time.
For all the followers of Trunk Guys whom have often moaned they haven't seen me actually in my trunks, well let me just say that show 60 addresses the balance (and I am not on about the Aussie Bum photo either!).
Enjoy the show and I hope to have a better update for you all on the blog, over the weekend.

Moo with delight
Tuesday, October 03, 2006
Thanks to the lovely people at Moo.com and Flickr I am now the proud owner of a batch of Moo cards!
These are little chewing gum sized cards that feature your details with random or set selection(s) of photographs from the content you have online at flickr.
They're a really nice size and an interesting little feature.
I know business cards are a little old hat but these really are quite funky and I wouldn't think twice about distributing them to friends, family and future clients (if I were to have any future clients that is).
What not stop by and get yourself some (if you're quick you can get a set of 10 free). Love Sign from the album "1-800 New Funk" by Prince

Relaxing, sleeping, snoozing, swimming, walking, sight seeing, people watching, talent spotting, shopping, sexy, window shopping, fumbling, laughing, joking, dining, sunbathing, chilling and restful.Or in other words we had a really nice time. From the moment we arrived to the moment we left we had a relaxing time, we really made the most of the peace and quiet. There have been a few bits and pieces to deal with regarding the Big Event so the holiday was a welcome departure from all the pre Big Event stress!
I'd like to elaborate on what we did but the list above pretty much sums it all up. We planned to chill out and have a nice relaxing time and that's exactly what we managed to do.
We didn't venture too far from El Morche or the area around the apartment as we decided to fill our days walking along the beach, enjoying lunch on the balcony, spending time on the beach sunbathing, back to the apartment for a swim and an afternoons siesta before freshening up and heading out for dinner with a sea view.
We even got to set eyes on some cute Spanish talent (which is a first in El Morche!). LOL
Bliss!
The video is now available to download as Trunk Cast :) (59)
Of course a selection of photographs are available to browse through on Flickr ;)
And yes that is me in my Aussie Bums - photograph courtesy of Rich who caught me unawares :)
