iAnnoyance!

Saturday, October 29, 2005

Once again I find myself writing about how pathetic Thameslink are. As previously posted we were due to see French and Saunders at the BBC this evening but alas we have had to cancel our plans. There is scheduled engineering work which basically means if we want to get home to night we're fucked!

I did however manage to get into London for the Mac Expo as planned.

It was quite an interesting day out - full of various types (not all bohemian media types as I had imagined). Of course there were lots of goodies to temp my wallet but I was very reserved opting only to purchase a protective case for my iBook which allows me to carry and use it without having to remove it.

It could have been easy to spend a fortune on iPod accessories but annoyingly the two things I was looking for were not present at the show.

I don't it very cutting edge if items I see reviewed a couple months ago don't appear...
Never mind.

I did have to laugh when I observed that people were ignoring/avoiding the Microsoft stand - the same could not be said for the presentations by Apple, Adobe or Quark.

iMac G5I think I have fallen in love with the new iMac though - it is a seriously sexy piece of kit. If it wasn't for the fact that my Dell is rather new I wouldn't think twice about ditching my XP machine and becoming a total Mac-o-phile.

I do read Mac Format quite religiously and although it is not the most up to date magazine, the tut's are interesting the the news items are worth a read (other Mac mags tend to be too formal for my liking). I have decided to subscribe recently and should expect a Griffin iTalk for doing so - this is a microphone that plugs into the top of your iPod so you can use it as a dictaphone - I hope my plan to use this to pod-cast on the go pays off... I guess I shall just have to wait and see.

Snore!

Friday, October 28, 2005

I am not sure if it's something to do with autumn drawing in and the nights getting darker but the weeks do seem to be getting longer and longer.

Unfortunately there has been problems with the roads every night this week - and this even involved driving down the M1 close to midnight to find it was closed for maintenance!

I am investigating the possible relocation of my podcast to a new home (obviously only physically not the actual location - to you the transition will hopefully be seamless). I am considering adverts on the blog at least to try and help cover some of the costs.

There is no intention to stop writing the blog anyway (and I want to post a new podcast as the last audio blog was more than a little depressing!).

I am off to the Mac Expo in London tomorrow and am looking forward to seeing lots of new accessories I cannot afford for my iBook and my iPods!

Richard and I are at BBC TV Centre tomorrow to see the pilot of the new French and Saunders production Jam and Jerusalum.

Sounds like a full day so I intend on doing nothing on Sunday!

One last thing - best of luck Di.

Silence

Tuesday, October 25, 2005

It is with great regret that I have to announce that I have to end my podcast.

It is simply becoming too expensive to publish.

Trunk Guy Podcast has become very popular and unfortunately this has come at a cost. Today I received a bill from my web server host for £54 - that's the cost of additional bandwidth use for the past week. There is no way I can afford to pay this sort of amount on a regular basis.

I have three options:

1) Remove the podcast(s)

2) Seek sponsorship

3) Find a free alternative host

I am having no success with the latter two so I guess it leaves me not choice but to remove the podcasts. (Unless any of you are able to help?).

It was fun while it lasted...

Thanks to everyone who commented, mailed, downloaded and listened. It was fun to produce and I am glad so many people took an interest.

Open Wide

Odd morning this, I got up a good hour later as I am heading off to the dentist shortly. At least there is one saving grace for medical appointments in the mornings, it means I don't have to get up so damn early.

I needed the lie in anyway as it took me over two hours to get home last night in the pouring rain. Winter is definitely on the way.

I have written and podcasted about my disgust for all the Madonna publicity surrounding her latest hair cut album but now I find a home grown artist stooping just as low! Robbie Williams had taken to flashing his dick online in an attempt to get you to sign up to his mailing list. Just how desperate does a celebrity have to be to do something like this?

(Come on Robbie, put the media out of their misery and just come out once and for all, we all know your dirty little secret!

Annoyed

Saturday, October 22, 2005

Today has not been the most successful day and I am annoyed about it.

The morning was spent by Richard and I sorting the house for our friends who are due over for dinner tomorrow.

After lunch we both headed into town. Richard to go to the gym and me to have a browse around the West End before meeting up with my friend for drinks.

As you know I have not been feeling too great of late but this morning I felt better and decided it was time to stop taking any medication and get on with things.

Sadly it all came flooding back when I got into Regent Street. Today wasn't a particularly warm day and I was dressed accordingly but it didn't take me long to realize I was still suffering from the affects of the bug.

I started to sweat profusely and felt light headed.

I decided to go back outside to get some air and felt a bit of a chill but better... on entering the next store I realized that my shirt and jumper were ringing with sweat.

After being in the West End for a total of ten minutes I decided to call Richard to explain that I was off colour and heading home. That's when the strap on my bag decided to give out and spill the contents across the shop floor.

I was not best pleased.

I ended up having to purchase a bag (which I will probably never use again) just to get my bits and pieces home (camera, iPod Nano, wallet, umbrella etc...

I am really angry that I took this funny turn in town especially as my friend is off to New Zealand in little over a week so this was our last opportunity to have a drink before she departs.

I have spoken to my friend and apologised, thankfully she was very understanding.

I am home now and decided I needed to wash all my clothes (as they were soaked through) only to notice the washing machine is leaking...

I'll be glad when this f***ing day is over!

Hurrah Podcast 9!

I know I uploaded podcast 11 yesterday but you may recall I had some problems with podcast 9 as it was my first QuickTime video podcast. Precious

Thursday, October 20, 2005

I am angry.

I have so much to say but I do not want to type.

I want to podcast but I have a sore throat.

I think it probably best I don't do anything!

I will say that I intend on getting things off my chest - and that's not connected to the cold I have!

This blog is not aiming in the direction I intended and like a lot of things recently I am not happy about it...

Watch this space...

Begged, stealed borrowed?

Wednesday, October 19, 2005

Mozez So StillSo Madonna begged Abba for the Gimme Gimme Gimme sample for Hung Up?

Is she next going to beg someone for talent and then a third person for a decent voice?

And so this years Madonna media circus begins... lord help those of us with taste!

If you want to listen to something different, someone unique and mystifying, then take a listen to Mozez. He is the vocal talents between a number of Zero 7's hits. His album is just spell binding...

I have managed to give So Still a couple of listens now and the more I hear the more I like. Mozez's album is perfect for chilling out to, to listen to in the car and to whisk you away from all the drudgery of every day life. I really think this guy deserves lots of praise and PR.

I know a lot of guys fancy Cristiano Ronaldo, but did anyone consider he could be possible of rape? I guess we won't be seeing that annoying Suzuki Swift advert on the television any more!

Is this for real or is it another bimbette selling her story to the Fleet Street tabloids?

I am not sure what is more news worthy - this of Saddam refusing to say his name in court! At least if Bush was in the dock we know he wouldn't be able to give his name because he'd probably forget it!

*Trunk Cast 10!

Saturday, October 15, 2005

Episode 10 of my podcast is online.

(10) Already I find myself in double figures and I am quite shocked by this. This is a run trhough of my week, an update of how I am feeling, why I have grown the beard and a brief critique of my latest CD purchase (of course there are comments about the Video iPod but that is not worth a note really is it!)

The little podcast that didn't!

In the last post I apologize for the cock up with the feed links to the video podcast.

I thought it only fair that you should be able to view this - I did record it for the web so I might as well use it!

I realize now it is a tad dark, but I hope you enjoy it all the same.

Remember to keep an eye out for the guest appearance from Jerry ;)

Double bollocks!

Friday, October 14, 2005

I have produced a Quicktime Pod-cast (pod-cast 9) but unfortunately the links do not seem to work from the feed or from a direct link! :(

I apologize for any inconvenience this may cause - I hope to get back online with a replacement tomorrow!

Anyway why did I upload a video pod-cast? To let you have a butchers at my beard! Thanks to the glandular problem I contracted last week I have been unable to shave.

I guess this photographic evidence will have to suffice! (Don't worry it's not a permanent feature!)

Richard landed safely in Holland this afternoon, he's full of cold, his hotel lost his reservation and he reckons Eindhoven is full of football hooligans but apart from that he's well! I just hope he perks up enough to enjoy his concert tomorrow). ILMB xxxxx

I am home alone this weekend so I am sure there will be more blog entries to come, and at least a replacement podcast!

Ciao for now!

:( Bollocks!

Wednesday, October 12, 2005

As suggested in my earlier mail I went back to work today - I cannot say I was happy to do so but needs must where the devil drives...

I was looking forward to a relaxing evening with my baby, in front of the television, munching on the luxury box of chocolates Di gave me (thanks babes). However this is not the case, I cannot currently get hold of Richard, Thameslink has major problems tonight thanks to a line-side fire at Blackfriars - who knows when I am going to see him?

I am so tired of all these things over complicating matters. We both work hard, why can we not get back and forth work quickly and efficiently?

Richard is off to Holland Friday morning and I know I am going to miss him terribly, I always do. It probably doesn't help that I still feel under the weather.

I may get my paws on a larger canvas this weekend. I like the new paintings I have created recently but my recent landscape success (not currently online), has given my confidence a boost. I think I am happy to layer a work together, not rushing trough it as I tend to.

I'd be very interested to hear what you think of my latest paintings, please drop me a line or leave a comment...

(So the "Video" iPod is upon us - well who hadn't guessed that? I guess this will spark the HD format war - as all Apple users will know Tiger already writes for Quicktime 7 HD quality - which the video iPod is set to play - strike one Apple! And as for iTunes 6..! No comment )

Home Sweet Home?

Monday, October 10, 2005

I (or rather we) have returned from our trip to the south west.

I would like to say it was a nice break, but sadly it wasn't what I had planned.

The hospital appointment I attended with my Mum was wasted thanks to the consultant "not having enough time to read the test reports"(!) nor could he give a comprehensive answer to what mum has to do with regards to going back to work.

I then investigated the claims for benefit only to find out that my mum only had a month to appeal and we were a day over. We not have to start all over again!

And then... then I took my mum to see my aunt in her home only to leave with the whole side of my face bloated and swollen. I ended up going to my parents GP on Friday to be told I had either been bitten or caught something at the home... the result? I feel I look like the elephant man, my face and neck are swollen and my left ear lob is bruised, grazed and red.

Thankfully the anti-biotics are kicking in as I need some sleep - it's kept me awake since Friday. I didn't go to work on Monday or Tuesday (great start back from a holiday I know!), but thankfully my director was understanding...

This week will be a little odd too as we only have a couple days together. Richard is flying out to holland at the weekend for an electronic music festival. I choose not to go (I prefer the likes of Air or Royksopp, not Tangerine Dream etc).

Anyway this leaves me home alone this weekend and as I feel like the elephant man I think it is probably a good thing!

During the weekend Richard and I took part in the Test the Nation, English test and we were both very happy with our results. I got 50 and Richard got 48 (out of 70).

It's nice to see that Yahoo have embraced pod-casts after launching a pod-cast search engine, it's also nice that Trunk Guy pod-cast is listed. (Unlike iTunes)

Typically one of my idols has been ridiculed whilst I have been offline. People please leave Janet alone! If she wants to sunbathe in the nude then let her. You're only jealous she has such a fantastic body for someone of her age.

Swiped! ;)

Saturday, October 01, 2005

I think this little chap says it all really.

I have woken up with a raging headache and can only conclude that it must be due to the increased amount of time back on the computer(s).

The week in Suffolk meant a complete break from most technology (ok the iBook went with me but that was simply to clear the camera memory cards) - now I have spent a week at home and at work in front of a monitor I fear I a suffering as a result.

I know I don't need new glasses, my recent ophthalmology test confirmed that. What I simply need is to spend less time glued to a monitor.

Why is this little chap relevant? Well he reminded me of the lovely lie in I had this morning. A lie in which carried on so long Richard came back to bed for snuggles. We were also joined in the bed by Brandy and in the room by Jerry.

One big happy, contended, relaxed family.

I am going home next week so I doubt there will be much opportunity to blog then nor will there be much time to podcast before I go. I will pick this back up (podcast) on my return but I feel I may decrease the regularity.

Anyway its a sunny autumnal day, I think once we get our Saturday morning routine of shopping etc out of the way, I may go off to the part for a walk, armed with my sketch book.

BTW Liberty X - Song for Lovers - fabulous Gospal sound, wonderfully soulful but why oh why did you kill it with that awful rap section? (Oh but you get much kudos for the remake of Stevie V's Dirty Cash - wow!)

Have a great weekend!
