I have not blogged that much this week as I have not had that much to say.
I have felt rather tired this week, no thanks to being at work and having to endure the boring drive once again.
At least I know it's only for today and then I have another week off.
I am going home at the beginning of next week, another drive I hate but the rewards are plenty. It'll be nice to catch up with friends and family. I hope also to shed some light on mums current condition. Well I can try!
Anyone know of any new albums/tracks that might help me get inspired?
Before I go I must wish one of my best friends a very happy birthday this weekend. I don't know how old Liz is (or maybe I do and I am just being polite), but I know she'll have a great day. Liz is such a fun, lively person. And I am sure she'll be on a high this year as she is soon to depart to Pakistan for a couple weeks. Best wishes sweetie!

I don't feel that inspired this evening (just got back from my first day at work after my holiday) so I won't write much...
Basically Richard and I went into London yesterday, did some browsing down the Kings Road, took tea at Harvey Nichols and then popped off to Trafalgar Square to see the BBC's live broadcast of Rolf on Art ;)

Relaxing Suffolk
Saturday, September 24, 2005
I think it is safe to say we had an absolutely wonderful week in Suffolk. And I think it is even safer to say we'll be back!
As we drove towards the barn, coming up alongside a freshly ploughed field with an orchard ahead we could tell we were going to chill out and have a brilliant break.
We always intended on relaxing but that is not to say we didn't get out and about.
We were blessed with wonderful weather which enabled us to make the most of our holiday.
On the first day we settled in to the accommodation after a wonderful greeting from the owners, complete with a huge basket of fresh farm goods to eat and a basket full of logs for the Ingle Nook fireplace.
We decided to go for a walk and ended up at Edwardstone where we investigated the village and the church before heading back, stopping at the White Horse for a drink.
There must have been something about the relaxing atmosphere, the peace and quiet and the fresh air as we were quite tired so went to bed early and got a great nights sleep.
The following day we both rose early to a view of the sun just rising over the horizon and the early morning mist evaporating off the fields. The barn had a wonderful double shower (ahem...) which invigorated you.
We had planned a trip to Orford Ness and made an early drive across Suffolk. I was not entirely sure what to expect of Orford or the Ness.
For those of you who don't know, Orford Ness has only recently been purchased by the National Trust as an area of outstanding natural beauty, it's been preserved as a nature reserve and an important record of our military history. This is because, until recently, the shingle spit that extrudes off the coast into the North Sea used to house a secret military facility which was used to build and test various weapons such as the casing for the A Bomb and bounce testing for Barnes Wallaces Bouncing Bomb of World War II.
I admit this isn't the usual kind of place you plan to visit but it was definitely different.
From the moment we stepped off the ferry onto the island the atmosphere changed. Behind us was picturesque, quaint Orford and Suffolk and ahead of us was a pretty barren grey landscape full of concrete and decaying buildings. It took a fair while to walk the length of the Ness and during this time I think it is safe to say we both felt moved and intrigued by what had happened on the spit in years gone by.
I did make a comment to Richard that at other trust properties you had to keep on the path to preserve the grass, if you strayed off the path on the Ness you were in danger of being blown up!
There really is so much to take in on the Ness, it was no wonder it took us most of the day.
The Ness really is a place of contrasts, there is fascinating military history, an untold history, an undistributed beauty, a great landscape, a nice beach and wonderful wildlife.
I actually find it hard to describe what the feeling was on the Ness as I have never experienced anything like it before.
One can only imagine what the lighthouse keeper must have seen over the years.
The following day we decided to take a short drive to Flatford Mill to see the beautiful landscapes that inspired Constable. I found it a little difficult visualizing exactly what he saw when he painted the Hay Wain but I can tell how you'd get bitten by the creative bug. So much so, I have just invested in a new set of paints.
Following Flatford Mill we took a drive cross country to Long Melford where we spent a pleasurable afternoon wandering around it's many antique shops. I have to admit I found this more interesting than Melford Hall which we visited shortly after. It was a very grand Tudor house but the interior was a real disappointment.
A much more interesting building and interior was that of Lavenham Guildhall which was the home of Corpus Cristi. This really was an astonishing building, or rather Tudor street. In fact the majority of Lavenham is pretty much how it was originally constructed in Tudor times. The houses look so frail, they remind me of huge dominoes waiting to be toppled at any moment.
We decided to drive into Kersey in the evening as we were reliably informed it was a lovely village, the information was not wrong. The streets (or rather street) was typically narrow with a ford just edging over the road, enough to keep the cars from speeding and allowing the ducks a unique place to paddle. We went to The Bell Inn for the evening and had a lovely meal. The locals were very accommodating and the whole evening was very relaxed.
As we had spent the previous day fairly close to the barn we decided to take another longer drive north into Suffolk. We went further North than Orford, along the coast to a place called Dunwich Heath, a rolling landscapes of wild purple heather, met by a shingle and golden sand beach, dramatically punctuated by the shadows of Sizewell Nuclear Power Station.
It felt so nice to wander around Dunwich, in many ways it reminded Richard and I of home. I thought it was very interesting that such an expanse of heath could be right next to the coast.
We savoured the fresh sea air, scented by the heather, relaxing on the beach and watching the wonderful wildlife that resides on this coast. As well as the birds in the RSPB reserve we also happened across an Adder and the odd seal.
After a filling lunch at the Coastguard Cottages we took a drive to Sutton Hoo. This is a rather odd place as basically it's a field full of big mounds in the ground. Of course this being Britain there is much more to the mounds than meets the eye. The mounds were excavated several years ago and underneath was the greatest example of Anglo Saxon remains. The main mound was the burial chamber of a king complete with all his worldly goods, his horse and his boat! The Hoo is quite a mysterious spot but worth a visit.
The time went spent back at the barn was very relaxed, and quiet. The view from the large sofa was stunning, long horizons of ploughed fields and country side, met with large gentle skies. Of course this peace was periodically broken whenever we'd open the barn doors as the ducks were rush towards us expecting food! We also managed to inherit the farm cat, Maxi for the duration of our stay. He'd wait patiently when we got up to be let in for breakfast or to curl up with us in front of the open fire.
I am sure I could write so much more but I won't - I am sure this will give a general impression of our time away.
We will certainly be paying Suffolk, and the barn a visit in the future.

NYC and a fall?
Sunday, September 18, 2005
Richard and I are ready to depart for our holiday tomorrow morning, ready for a week of relaxing, visiting new and interesting places in the UK. So what have we been doing in preparation? Planning our New York trip in February!
Why? Well I wondered if you could help?
a) We are looking for an alternative to the hotel we stayed in this year. There was nothing wrong with the Hotel Metro, it's just we thought we'd have a look around to see what else was on offer.
b) We are planning an excursion to Niagara Falls. This doesn't sound too complicated except it needs a bit of planning. We know that the trip will take a day out of our holiday and we know we can fly there. This is when we have a couple of choices. 1) Fly to Buffalo and see the American side or 2) Fly to Toronto and see the Canadian side.
It would be cool to fly to Canada for the day, then we can say we visited two countries ;) It is a little difficult finding out all the technicalities regarding being a British Citizen travelling from the US to Canada...
If anyone can offer any help or advice for hotels etc I would be very grateful ;)
As mentioned on Thursday we had discussed going into London to see some of the properties that are part of Open House weekend. Well we didn't make it yesterday and I don't know whether it will happen today. We are up and about but both look a little bleary eyed!
One good piece of news from Thursday is that the fuel protests really didn't amount to very much, in fact the price of fuel in the UK is being cut. That said it is still much more expensive than it was 6 months ago and far more expensive than what residents of the US are paying. At least the car is full of fuel and we can get on with our holiday ;)
There seems to be more and more similarities between the UK and the USA and most of them are not necessarily very good. Thanks to CHAV iTV, we now have a Walk of Fame!!! What a naff idea. Is this somewhere we can go to praise the likes of Les Dennis and Cannon and Ball? Give me a break!
One last thing, come on E4 - when are you going to show the next season of The OC? (Does anyone have a copy of Phantom Planets California that I could scrounge as my copy has become corrupted :( )

What is this strange fascination with Axel Rose?
Saturday, September 17, 2005
Hurrah! Not only is it Saturday but I am already part way into my week off, as I had half a day yesterday ;)
I wanted to start this blog entry for thanking Pop Muse for reacquainting me with the fab clip from the Madonna/MTV archives.
My love affair with Madonna and her music has long since dissipated but this clip reminds how quirky and amusing she could be.
In my opinion this is when Madonna was at her best, the Erotica period - it's just a shame it all went downhill from there. Follow the jump for the clip - it is worth it;)
Anyway here is one pussy who looks ready to chill for the weekend, may I present to you - Brandy Cat!

Fuelling the rage!
Thursday, September 15, 2005
What is going on in the UK? Why are we so easily lead by the tabloid press and the likes of Murdoch's news empire? This seems to be a recurring theme but I think it needs to be for people to take notice! Why on earth do we believe the hype of the newscasters to such an extent that we end up queuing for hours to get fuel?
OK we have all seen the images on Americans doing this in the wake of hurricane Katrina but we all know that there are more than enough reserves for us! I do wish people would just calm down!
Why am I not worried? Simply because I filled the car up on Monday morning, as I usually do on my way to work. If I cannot get to work due to lack of fuel then it's just too bad.
I am sure it won't spill over to such a degree that it impacts on our holiday next week. Typically we have decided for this break to spend it in the UK, visiting parts we have not been to before. Typically this holiday will rely on us needing to use the car! It would seem that it was all media hype and panic...
We are off to Suffolk on Monday, it does not sound too grand when compared to Paris, London, New York or Spain (places we have also been this year) but I am sure it will be a welcome break and will include stunning scenery. Our holiday location is not a million miles away from where we live but as the things we plan to do would require a whole day of travelling there and back, we decided it best to find a nice spot locally.
This is where Richard and I still think like a couple of Devonshire residents as we have not visited Suffolk before because it is much much further away from Devon then where we live now.
There is a loose itinerary for next week but we both want to visit Orford Ness. Not your usual National trust property, but I am sure it will interest us.
I am actually really looking forward to seeing our accommodation as we were recommend by friends our ours to look up a collection of converted cottages and farm buildings. We are staying in a converted barn and I sincerely hope it is as romantic as the photographs featured online. If we do nothing else next week, I simply hope we spend the time relaxing.
Of course this means I won't be near a computer (except to take shots off my camera to store on my iBook) so there will be no blog entries or podcasts next week.
I have been looking at the vast array of things that are possible with podcasts and I hope to try some of them our for the next edition of my podcast ;) It should (all being well), be live on Friday.
If you have posted a comment recently you may have noticed that I have blocked anonymous comments and add verification. This is due to the level of rogue comments I have been receiving and the chicken hearted people who want to remain nameless. If you have something to say - own up to it!
As you know we are suckers for our cats and live with two little terrors, Brandy and Jerry. I was mailed by a lovely guy who lives up in Stourbridge, Rob; whom notified me of a photography competition for the Cats Protection League. As you can imagine being a pet owner means a wealth of photos of our cats and other peoples. Of course I jumped at the chance to send off some enteries - I just cross my fingers now hoping they bring me luck or at least end up in print :) If you would like to see the photographs I have entered, some of them are in this Flickr set ;)
It is Open House weekend here in the UK and Richard and I plan to get into the capital and see some buidlings this year. Every year buildings that are usually shut to the public are open for us to view - it's a great opportunity to have a nose around interesting and new places as well as an excuse to take the camera into town for some new shots. We always seem to miss it, this year we are determined to have a look.
I would say we'd possibly visit Harvey Nichols for tea in the afternoon (as it is sort of a tradition), but following the recent shooting in there I am not so sure!
At last Google seems to have caught up with the latest trends (not bas as they own Blogger!) - not entirely sure that we really need a Google Blog Specific search though - do we?
Oh, one last ramble - Robin is out! If you don't watch the Smoking Room then you have no idea what I am on about but basically the principal character wsa outed by his work mates in the last of the second series. The reaction was typical of The Smoking Room though. Please Mr BBC Three, don't make us wait too long for the next series ;)

B-B-Birthday!
Sunday, September 11, 2005
Yesterday was Ben's birthday and he successfully managed to arrange a get together for a whole gaggle of us at a rather nice Chinese restaurant.
It was quite a gathering, I think every gay man worth knowing in Beds. and Herts. was there (!) - no honestly.
It was lovely to see Ben and Adam and have a brief catch up amongst the celebrations.
The evening was quite beneficial for Richard and I too as we met a really nice couple who literally live around the corner from us! (There are more horrendous over exposed shots from the party after the jump!)
I am pleased to say I am not suffering from any alcohol induced headaches etc this morning, either I had just enough to drink or Richard's delicious fruit smoothies are the perfect wake up remedy!
I spent some time yesterday investigating the world of podcasts (further than before) and there are a number of things I have done or have plans to complete for Trunk Guy podcast. The first major step is a slight alteration in the location of the podcast feed. The old one will continue to work but the new improved feed will give more information and allow you to subscribe through iTunes direct. The new feed address is http://feeds.feedburner.com/TrunkGuyPodcast.
It's a grey day here and I have a couple of things to do inside so the weather won't actually affect my Sunday.
I think I'll just potter about the house, running through my list of to-do's whilst listening to my iPod nano ;)
You may feel my last post bestows lots of praise onto Apple, well there is a good reason for this. Apart from all the obvious reasons we all know about, Apple are very customer focused and up front.
Whenever I have contacted them I have had a response the same day, a handwritten personal response at that.
Why does this matter? Well...
I recently purchased a XP computer from a charity site run by a UK Constabulary, this computer was originally stolen but never claimed so in an effort to raise money for charity the police are auctioning things. The PC obviously had it's hard drive wiped but was supplied with it's XP Home License sticker on the top. I decided to contact Microsnot to ask if I could acquire a Home CD (I didn't mean for free I was willing to pay a nominal charge) as I didn't need to purchase an OEM disc as I already had a license. Four weeks later I receive the most bog standard response from Willy Gates Mob stating "no, blah blah blah, contact original supplier as we cannot help" - what kind of response is that? Thanks a bunch you money grabbing b*stards!

Mork Calling Trunk Guy
Saturday, September 10, 2005
OK I don't want to spoil it for those who are yet to listen to this weeks podcast, but the big news is I am the proud owner of a brand spanking new iPod nano ;)
I was very impressed by the presentation Steve Jobs gave this week and was surprised at the nano. What I will say is that I think you should ignore the photo's and the TV ad and take a look at the presentation. It is not until Jobs takes the nano out of his carpenter pocket (the little pointless pocket in your jeans), that you realize just how small it is.
Richard was kind enough to stop by the Apple store in Regent Street yesterday to pick mine up for me (whilst also picking a black one up for himself ;) ).
As you know I am an avid fan of the iPod and of iTunes and have used my 3G 20Gb unit daily.
My critique of the nano is really a comparison to my existing iPod so parts of this will be old news to some of you.
- It's small! As the ads say it really is small. This doesn't mean it isn't sturdy though. It's a very strong rigid piece of kit.
- It's very light and very thin. When placed into my existing dock it looks lost (yes it fits the existing docks. Apple have decided to keep the same connector which means it'll work with all other dock connection peripheral. They also include a dock adapter for third party kit which is a nice touch)
- The screen is full colour and very very bright. This means the menu is a joy to use as it is very clear and crisp.
- It takes photos just like it's big brother the iPod photo. The screen may be a little small but any photo I have transferred to the nano has appeared entirely viewable. Of course you can you the standard iPod Photo connection to see the photo's on a TV or with the lead, transfer to a Mac or PC ;)
- It's loud! I don't know if this is because it is such a small item but I was very surprised by how loud the nano is. Older generation iPods were subject to European laws which capped sound volumes but I think this is possibly not the case here. Even at the highest volume with the biggest bass, there is no distortion.
- Listening to Podcasts is a breeze and by default the nano will not include Podcasts into a shuffle
- Of course you can shuffle, and thanks to iTunes 5 you can now do it more intuitively using Smart Shuffle. The bonus of this over the iPod Shuffle is the click wheel, the colour screen and room for 1000 songs (on the 4Gb model, which is an accurate figures as I tried it)
- As an owner of two iPods I was a little concerned about iTunes playing up but have realized that the nano is more of a machine for me to listen to specific artists, albums or playlists rather than the whole catalogue (I am making this sound like a problem but it is not - you have to remember I have come from using a 20Gb iPod and have about 40Gb of music on my computers). I have simply created a nano folder in iTunes with new playlist and choose to have these synced and any of my other playlists. This enables iTunes to still keep the nano synced with the minimum of fuss and allows me to sync everything on my 20 Gb when it's docked.
- The click wheel feels different from the 3G and it is a little different (for me) to loose the four buttons but it works very well. I have read that a different manufacturer created this click wheel and I think it was a good decision. As the unit is so small there could have been the danger of brushing the controls and accidentally moving songs, changing volume etc but the nano click wheel has a definite press point (like the Motorola V3) for the five buttons. The actual click wheel is still touch sensitive and as quick as ever to operate.
- New extras are a nice touch like the world clock (allowing you to have as many clocks as you want, initially set up with Cupertino time ;) ). The games take on a new perspective in colour and help while away the time.
- You could always watch a slideshow of your photos whilst listening to your music, it might be more interesting than album art!
- Album art is displayed alongside the playing track and can be seen in full with two clicks of the central button. One new feature which is currently exclusive to the nano is the ability to display lyrics for the current song. I can only imagine the world of commuting karaokeists this has created!
- Syncing with Outlook as well as iCal are now possible and thanks to the bright clear screen, appointments and contact details are now with you wherever you go. You might have that crucial business appointment in your pocket but you may get too distracted listening to your nano!
- One criticism I do have is the horrible German warning sticker which came on the back of my model, it was a bugger to remove and proves that this little baby will end up marking just as badly as it's big brother. As all iPod owners know over time, your precious white gem (or black) can end up looking rather battered, as the nano is so small I think it may be prone to even more knocks. Thankfully Apple have taken a look at the huge accessories market and created their own skins which they call nano tubes. They have beaten the competition this time though as you get five different coloured skins for roughly the same price as one of the competitors (mine is already ordered).
That's it really, I cannot fault the nano.
It's a lovely compact piece of kit that holds just the right amount of music and is so light weight and small you would hardly know you are carrying it. Thankfully though it's sturdy enough to take knocks. The battery life is even better at 18 hours although I have not had chance to test this yet...
Of course there was bound to be news from the competition this week but I think Apple have another winner in their hands. Sony have ditched SonicStage, are installing SD slots (does this spell the death of Memory Stick?) and are finally allowing their players to play MP3 files). Whilst Creative and iRiver have already given up fighting the power of the nano as Apple were shrewd enough to barter such a great deal (50% less cost per unit in bulk for the flash memory over it's competitors), that they have already said there is no way they can compete with the price, the memory size of the function. Business is business boys!
And for all of you who reckon that 4Gb is not enough - according to a recent survey in Europe the average digital music owner had a 512Mb flash device and carried a total of 624 tracks! So now for a similar price you great a great lightweight, well supported player with a colour screen and loads of extras ;)
I am really impressed to see two Prince tracks, Batdance and Sexy MF being used by German dance outfit Funkstörung (it is available on iTunes ;) )

Episode 5 of my podcast is now online.
(Alternative title Richards' is black, mine is white ;)
As ever you have two options, listen to the podcast (MP3) or add the URL (http://feeds.feedburner.com/TrunkGuyPodcast) to your podcast browser (yes it's iTunes friendly) and listen to me on the go...
My week has been quiet but Steve Jobs' hasn't. What has that got to do with me? Take a listen and you'll find out ;)
(I wonder if it could possibly have anything to do with the photo of the iPod Nano which has replaced the usual Trunkguy.com Pod Cast logo this week - I wonder..? ;) )
BTW if you haven't downloaded it yet - get iTunes 5 - it makes sense too!

An Open Letter to the Twat running this country
Thursday, September 08, 2005
I am annoyed Mr BLiar.
You said we would have a fairer system of government, you said you would clamp down on benefit fraudsters, you said only the needy would benefit from state funds and national insurance.
Please answer me this:
- Why after 18 months of agony.
- 18 months of pain.
- 18 months of waiting.
- 18 months of bureaucracy.
- 18 months of dealing with an increasing heart defect.
- 18 months of depending on medication to breathe.
- 18 months worrying because your consultant cardiologist told you there is a leak into the major chamber of the heart, which will get worse - but it's nothing to worry about!
- 18 months of getting slower and weaker.
- 18 months to watch your mother go from fit to struggling to even get up stairs.
- 18 months of worry for my mum, my dad, Richard and I, plus all the other people closely connected to my mum.
- 18 months to receive a response from this shit government explaining to my poor mother that she is not ill enough to receive any benefits from the government!!!
- 18 months to be told by some social worker that mum should try to find an alternative career.
18 months and all you can manage is a couple anonymous letters with pointless, hurtful generic sentences such as you may be able to claim again if you were to a) loose a limb b) suffer partial or complete loss of sight.
You are eligible for nothing as you are not sick enough!
What the fuck is going on your Labourite Wanker?
How come you still give benefits and disability allowances to numerous scum bags who don't deserve it?
How come all you seem to need to do to get as much benefit as you want in this country is to get fucked up on drugs or pregnant, ditch the boyfriend, plead poverty and then you get it all laid out for you on a silver platter?
I am sorry but my mother has worked long and hard all her life - where is her government to support her now?
Maybe she should have got pregnant at 17, then she wouldn't have ever needed to go to work, she'd be in housing, claiming benefits for her and her child, not having to pay rent, never having to work.
This government has to seriously sort itself out - this government has to stop being so fucking woolly. This government has to realize there are other people out there who give just as much to society - if not more, than people who choose to fuck one another and drop children at will.
But then again Mr BLiar you're not exactly the model citizen are you? You have too many kid that you can't control. And you have a wife who constantly looks like she has a pole shoved up her arse (she's fooling no one - we all know she's constantly pissed - she has to be to be with a mug like you).
I am sure you must only be looking after you own.
God I fucking hope you suffer a heart attack whilst in power - lets see if you have to wait over 18 months for a response?
(Anger Vented!)

MIA - Missing Interesting Anecdotes
Saturday, September 03, 2005
I have been reading through my blog and it has just become obvious that the funny little events that happen during the day, the anecdotes I bestow upon friends and colleagues when I see them, are missing!
There are a number that I could record here but I am sure there are even more I have forgotten!
One such incident happened last night...
I brought the washing in from the garden and was putting it away. Both cats were fast asleep until I placed a pair of Richards undies the drawer. Both of them shot off their chair and started to attack the wardrobe!
I decided to investigate this source of frantic interest when I heard a buzzing. Gently moving away a pair of undies I noticed there was a huge bumble bee trapped inside. He must have flown into the washing whilst it was hanging in the garden.
Before I had chance to think about how to get the little guy out of there he was twatted across the head by the big mean white paw of Jerry!
Of course all hell broke loose as the bee got angry and both Jerry and Brandy decided to try and kill it for dinner!
I was just stood there watching this chaos unfold when I realized a) I didn't want to get stung b) I didn't want the bee to sting either of the cats c) I didn't want either of the cats to eat the bee and d) I did not want the bee getting into the rest of the house.
I quickly had to shout at Brandy and Jerry making them scarper for the safety of the dining room (this was after a little persuasion as Jerry wanted to come back up to have another swipe at the bee).
I then quickly ran to the kitchen, grabbed a tumbler and a place mat and gingerly made my way back to our bedroom.
Thankfully the bumble bee had settled back in the drawer so I was able to trap it between the tumbler and the place mat before making my way, even more gingerly downstairs. As you can imagine bumble bees are not best pleased to be sandwiched between a glass and some hardboard!
I did manage to get myself and the bee out into the garden before either of us got lynched by the cats, upon where I lifted the glass and let him fly away.
I must admit I was a little worried about the bee seeking revenge but thankfully he just took flight!
This seems to be the season where other insects such as spiders, moths and daddy long legs are making their way into the house for warmth. I fear that we are due a couple months of frantic cat to insect duels!
Oh yes, if one more person decides to mention or copy the godawful countdown from Madonna's website for her next mundane album I WILL SCREAM! Get a grip people!

Why won't Jimmy pledge allegiance?
I was trying to decide whether to blog about Hurricane Katrina and the wake of chaos and destruction in New Orleans etc, but after seeing the news items yesterday/today I find it hard not to say something.
I feel sorry for the people involved but I am just shocked at the panic, the tension, the fighting and the anarchy that seems to have been laid bare.
I couldn't agree more with Jay, what on earth is going on?
America is supposed to be the world Super Power, Rome for our times, and yet; they cannot cope with this level of emergency. I am not suggesting anyone can or could really be prepared but if this is how the richest nation on earth copes, what chance have the rest of us?
Has everyone forgotten about the victims of the other major natural disaster the Tsunami? This affected more people, more countries and yet things were acted upon, things were dealt with. The scene was no less graphic or disturbing but there wasn't looting. There were no shootings. There were no rapes. And yet they had NO warning. How can the Gulf Coast be reacting so badly when people were advised to pack up and leave?
I have some questions for America:
1) Why is it George W Bushes Fault when the original threat of the hurricane and peoples well being was the responsibility of state government?
2) Now that you have to ration fuel, will you consider using smaller cars?
3) Whilst you have to suffer the price rises at the pumps, will you not consider every other country in the world who all pay much more than you already?
4) Will you not consider cutting your energy consumption and finding renewable sources of energy (something every other member of the Kyoto Agreement has signed up to?)
5) Would you give up your spare/emergency oil reserves to Arabic countries if they were affected by a devastating natural disaster?
6) Will this now make you and your government re address it's stand on global warming and the Kyoto Agreement?
You are the biggest polluters and you are the greatest energy users so you hold more responsibility than the rest of us for global warming. Yet you take the least amount of action. You have to take stock of your poor past decisions in light of the way the worlds climate is changing. Events such as Hurricane Katrina, Tornados in Birmingham and flooding in Boscastle are all results of such reckless behaviour.
We all have our part to play, we all have to be responsible and take care of this world, for all of us...
We all know what happened to the original Roman Empire (well those of us with real histories do), I'd hate to see America suffer the same fate. I would also hate to see the rest of us dragged down by poor decisions across the continent.
"Aristocrats on a mountain climb Making money, losing time Communism is just a word But if the government turn over It'll be the only word that's heard
Little sister making minimum wage Living in a 1-room jungle-monkey cage Can't get over, she's almost dead She may not be in the black But she's happy she ain't in the red
Freedom Love Joy Peace
Jimmy Nothing never went 2 school They made him pledge allegiance He said it wasn't cool Nothing made Jimmy proud Now Jimmy lives on a mushroom cloud
America, America God shed his grace on thee America, America Keep the children free
Teacher, why won't Jimmy pledge allegiance?

I was going to keep this quiet but I am afraid if I do I might pop!
Richard and I were debating returning to New York as we had such a good time at the beginning of the year.
And guess what?
We're going back! YIPPEE!!!
I thoroughly enjoyed the time we spent in New York, snow and all. I am so looking forward to returning. I am already thinking about getting out the guide books ;)
We're returning in February on my birthday again so no doubt it'll be a cool one :)
When the podcast is broadcast this week I am sure you will realize just how happy I am by the tone of my voice! :D
I must say a big thank you to the guys at UK Podcasts for adding me to their directory ;)
On a slightly more obscure note, the podcast unfortunately will have to undergo a slight change. I am afraid I won't be able to host any historical episodes due to the amount of bandwidth I am using. It would seem that the Trunk Guy Podcast is a victim of it's own success. In a way this is great and I am thrilled but to be honest I don't want to have to pay regular bills from my host due to my bandwidth quota going through the roof!
I am taking the old casts down to see if it helps alleviate the problem. Hopefully it will. .
Archives of my old podcasts are now being hosted by the kind people over at Our Media. This is becuase I have noticed a sharp increase in traffic to the site recently and I needed to move them due to incresaed bandwidth costs.
Thank you all for your continued support, I am very thrilled by all the attention and comments etc.
:)
Oh it's sunny, the birds are singing, it is Friday tomorrow and we're off to New York!!! LOL
