Princely Review

Thursday, March 31, 2005

I can't quite believe the tone or the content of this review.

Batman may be a bad album but I find it difficult to vote for my favourite and least favourite albums when all the works are not listed!

I cannot vote on this survey as Lovesexy is by far the best album Prince has ever put out and Emancipation has to reign as one of the worst - but neither are included!

What a pile of papp!

On a more positive note, this website fuses two of my favourite things, my iPod and cute guys ;) Wills obviously gets my vote. (Why did they have to include a girls gallery though - I don't geddit! LOL)

Human (Discg)Race

Why are people so damn bloody minded and thoughtless?

I drive through some winding country lanes on my way to work and have often wondered how some people manage to get from A to B in one piece as they drive too fast and are all over the road.

I noticed over the past week that a pair of ducks have nested on the boundaries of one of the farms and as it is spring I guess they were waiting for the patter of tiny webbed feet.

Sadly (and shockingly) this morning it all came to an abrupt end when the car ahead of me took a corner too fast, ran over the verge and killed one of the ducks. The thing that really grates is that he didn't stop! He just drove on. The other duck was waddling back and forth crying out whilst the other poor soul lay in the road twitching.

What drives people to be like this? Why do some people lack compassion and common sense?

I may sound melodramatic about a duck but they have as much right to be here as the rest of us. What would the driver have done if a child had run out from the farm? I dread to think.

What a great start to the day!

Cool lunch boxThis is slightly more reminiscent of trendy picnics than old school lunch packs but I still think it's cool. I want one!

I know people tend to think that Bloggers crave attention but this guy has gone a bit too far...

Do I look fat in this?I have decided to upload some more photo's from our trip to Waddesdon at the weekend and yes this time there are some of me! I just hope I don't look too fat in that t-shirt! LOL

And no Mr Whitworth that was not open season for one of your smart comments! (You know how you are!)

Is it really only Wednesday? When will this week end? (Then again next week will be unbearable as we'll be off on our spring break Saturday week :))

Grey Day

Tuesday, March 29, 2005

What an awful, boring, unsynchronized, grey day!

Thankfully I have my spring photo's to cheer me up ;) (I took these on Saturday at Waddesdon Manor). Look out for the cute photo's of my baby :)

Whingermere

Monday, March 28, 2005

The patrons of Lake Winder-mere are complaining because as of midnight tonight they will no longer be able to speed along the great lake. This will allegedly elimnate speed boats and water skiers from the lake.

What's wrong with that? Do people not realize how dangerous these sports are? Especially on such small area's of water? They have had a good thing for far too long and now they are moaning that they will have to give it all up!

What about the ecological reasons for stopping the excessive speeds? If the current level of activity carries on there will be no natural system and eventually no lakes.

I am sick of people moaning and complaining about these things when there has been a public forum, there has been a democratic voting process and they have had five years to prepare for tonight.

Many business are complaining that they will loose money or go under. Why didn't they take the five years to diversify instead of complaining? Surely there will be a rise in smaller, quieter boats on the lake - why not shift your business to concentrate on the needs of these new customers?

Business is all about adapt and change and I am amazed at how ignorant people can be to progress.

There were reports that some boat owners (mainly middle aged fathers whom are happy to be pictured with the whole family in thier boat), are going to flaunt the speed limits and continue their "hobby"! I am sure these must be the BMW drivers of the Lake - what complete tossers!

When will people learn?

Bunny Who?

Sunday, March 27, 2005

Don't I look angelic?I must say I am surprised this morning, not least that losing an hour's sleep means I actually am up earlier! I thought I'd be tucked in for ages...

I am not sure I look as fresh this, at the moment - then again this was taken yesterday when it was lovely and sunny and I had lungs full of fresh air. It never ceases to amaze me just how human my baby makes me look!

I like this photo so much it has been added to My Gallery and the rotating images on the front page. Do you like it?

Anyway I have been browsing some Brit Blogs this morning and am surprised that only Comatose has actually written anything about last nights new Doctor Who. Considering the amount of stink that has been made about this series I am amazed that no one else has commented.

Hop my way Mr Bunny!I am surprised I have decided to blog it though as I hate Doctor Who.

I can see why they did the first episode like this as there is a whole new audience to introduce The Doctor to and let's face it, it was always targeted at the early teen market so I think they got it just right.

That said I am not sure I will be busting my balls to see any more!

As predicted Easter Sunday is really grey and horrible which is a shame. It looks like we'll spend it at home sorting things out here I guess... Not unless anyone else has a better idea?

Anyway thanks have to go to Cisoto for the Hunky Easter Bunny (mind you I do find this a little disturbing!)

I also find these trunks a little disturbing too - it's nice to have a fit guy prancing around (and heaven forbid swimming) in his swimmers but is this innovation absolutely necessary?

Oh My Gosh! Check out the heavy Prince influence on this track!

Spring

At last it would seem that spring has sprung (although I am trying to avoid the fact that now (two hours after I took this shot), it's clouded over!

Regression

Suddenly I feel like a kid all over again!

It's "Easter Saturday" (if there is such a thing) and it's a glorious sunny day. No doubt once we wake up we will be heading out to join the masses on the roads. At least we are not planning to travel from one end of the country to the other - why do people insist on doing this at Easter? This the principal reason we do not travel home at Easter, that and bloody caravans!

We had a lovely evening on Thursday as we met Steve and Robin for dinner in Cambridge and had a really nice evening.

Thanks to Steve I have been reacquainted with Mylo - how could I forget how could the album was?

Most unlike the Ministry of Sounds Mash Mix album which I purchased yesterday. Now I know I should not have bothered as I like non commercial mash mixes for their novelty value. I should have known this album would be commercial and miss the point and boy was it ever! Needless to say it was sold within a couple of hours on Amazon so I don't have to suffer it anymore!

I have not seen any news for two days so I cannot make any witty comments about world events - nor do I care to anyway. It seems like news channels have to cope with back up news readers and community stories as everyone is on holiday!

Engadget has highlighted the phenomenon of Transparent Mac Backgrounds that are doing the rounds on Flickr and I must say I am impressed. I can think of ways to replicate this easily in Photoshop but this group protests that PS has not been used to create this photo's - so how do they do it?

This reminds me of the Infinite Cat Project - it also reminds me that I must get Brandy or Jerry in front of the computer to include them! But we have to win Brandy over as Richard accidentally sat on her yesterday and she is not being very forgiving! '¬)

Oh yeah, how does Banksy do it?

Happy Easter!

Domino iBook

Wednesday, March 23, 2005

Could this be the perfect way to hide my iBook? Well no actually! As a) I don't eat Pizza and b) it would make me look like a bum!

Inspiration strike me with an arrow/torch/dart* (*delete as appropriate) - please!

Ask me why
I'll say it's most unusual
How can I even try to explain
why today I feel like dancing
singing like lovers sing
when I wouldn't normally do this kind of thing?

Ask me when
I'll say it started when I met you
and ever since then I knew that the past couldn't last
For right now I think I'm running
a race I know I'm gonna win
and I wouldn't normally do this kind of thing

If people say I'm crazy
I tell them that it's true
Let them watch with amazement
say it won't last beyond breakfast
it's a phase he's going through
denigrate or speculate
on what I'm going through
because it isn't the sort of thing I'd normally do

Ask me what
I'll say I think it's good for you
Believe it or not I know where it's all leading to
I feel like taking all my clothes off
dancing to The Rite of Spring
and I wouldn't normally do this kind of thing
I wouldn't normally do this kind of thing

Off!

Tuesday, March 22, 2005

I should have been out tonight but I didn't feel up to it.

I have had one of those days, I cannot get motivated, I feel at a constant "loose end" and I am just not my top billing.

Maybe tomorrow will be better - I hope so!

Why?

Sunday, March 20, 2005

Spring time...

Because it feels all spring like and bright ;)

Something else that makes me feel warm and fuzzy is Natalie Imbruglia. Following a conversation with Onan I have decided to pre-order my copy of Counting the Days.

I have given Trunk Guy a bit of a spring clean today. Not only are there the new photties on the front page, there has been a new Online Hombre added to the Friends section, the links have a had a bit of a tidy up (nasty broken links have been swept under the carpet) and there is a new Site of the Moment! Gadgets is a new section which I am sure I can expand on in the future.

Good news day

Saturday, March 19, 2005

So there has been some good news today - hurray!

Lorraine gave birth to a bouncing baby boy (although I doubt they decided to see if they could score baskets with him). Congratulations to her and Graham on the birth of Ewan George ;)

Patrons of Brisbanes' Powerhouse will soon be able to sample the delights of the Pet Shop Boys' musical Closer to Heaven.

Kylie fans will be able to enjoy the diminutive Aussie singing a live version of In Denial which will feature recorded vocals from Neil Tennant during Kylie's new Showgirl tour.

Oh and the many gay fans of Wonder Woman will probably start wetting themselves at the launch of teaser posters for the new movie... (Thanks to Pink is the New Blog) - yes Andy I mean you ;¬)

One bit of bad news though, Richard and I are unable to find a comfy sofa which will fit our living room - boo!

1 + 1 = fock it!

Friday, March 18, 2005

This about sums it all up I think!

(Please note that not at any level do I agree with drug use - I just thought this was mildly amusing!)

I was going to write something terrific, something brilliant, something outstanding, something mind blowing - and you know what? I have forgotten what it was! Arse!

Doesn't that always happen when you are searching around the net?

;)

I am so glad it is the weekend though.

My iPhoto book arrived this week and I am very impressed. For PC owners an iPhoto book is a printed bound book that is created from a photo album that is designed on an Apple.

And I have to say it's painfully simple and 100% effective. I think I already have some ideas brewing for gifts this year :)

Oooww No!

The Escape from Neverland game has to be seen to be believed!

The technology in these bags is perfect to protect my iBook when I travel but it's a shame they are just so damn ugly.

I am not so sure I agree with the finding of this report (as I am a gin drinker) - but I guess it could be worse.

Gin = Stability

The gin drinker, unlike the tequila drinker, has accepted the reality of their own existence. They focus on the home, family, friends and their interest in transport is to carry as many people around as possible.

They enjoy the comfort and security that this lifestyle has to offer. They are into relationships, soap operas, novels with happy ending and saving the whale. Fashion passes them by.

What ever I said about Daft Punk's new album Human After All, please ignore. I feel like such a fraud. The final album dropped today and it's awful - it's a mess, a combination of boring repetitive tracks that are just not worth the listen. What has happened to the fine French craftsmen? AVOID THIS ALBUM.

The Bravery is a completely different matter - the more I play it the more I want to hear it!

Amayzing!

Tuesday, March 15, 2005

As if yesterday's little title generation tool wasn't enough to keep us occupied, now there is another - the twist with this is it generates your search with items that match from the Amazon catalogue (and is infinitely accessible!) - groovy!

Lost the pop!

Sunday, March 13, 2005

OK I give up - what is happening with the world of "popular" music?

I am sat here watching the UK Top 40 - something I have not seen (or heard) in ages and I am horrified! What is with the charts!

And what is with the record companies?

First they admit that three "bands" have been dropped - bands? I have never heard of "VS", "411" or "cannot be bothered to remember their name", who the hell were they and should we care that they have all been dropped after a few hits? I am sure they must be Chav groups from the iTV generation - am I right?

And then - then - the guy from the Halifax ad's turns up doing a cover!

WTF!!!

What happened to the time when people became artists and remained so? Is this why so many people are concerned with the Michael Jackson trial?

Let's face it - would we really give a shit if a similar thing happened to McFly? (And what does that mean anyway?)

God this generation are f*****g gullible!

I just hope the charts can claw back some credibility tomorrow when Daft Punk and The Bravery release their new albums...

One can live and hope!

Open Ur Mind

Saturday, March 12, 2005

Well today has started bright and early, there is no clouds in the sky, the sun is out and the birds are singing - and they have been since 5:30! It really is the best time of the morning. And what am I doing up so early? Well... Richard has driven home for the weekend. Regular "Trunkies" (for that is what I am calling my visitors from now on), will recall that Richard and I are from the same part of the UK, so why haven't I gone home? Because I am still suffering with this virus/cold thing that is doing the rounds. I visited the doctor yesterday and have been given more medication to try and knock it on the head for good! I only hope it works.

I didn't fancy the drive home, I have been feeling rough all week and have been rather busy (to the point of leaving the office at lunchtime on Thursday as I couldn't concentrate) and feel this time alone in the house will be beneficial as I can lock myself in with the heating on and relax...

That said I have thought of a hundred and one things I could do!

Toby at the office summed it up as "Presenteeism" which I think is very apt. Even when I am home with time to myself I am still thinking of things to do!

I need to relax I think - "I am chanting as we speak sweetie!".

You may recall that we went to see Acorn Antiques at the beginning of it's West End run. Well the good news is that the run has been extended, sadly the bad news is that it's still remains a sell out. You can catch a behind the scenes "documentary" on ITV1 this evening (if you can bring yourself to watch such a pikey channel that is!).

More time has been spent on my iBook. I have to keep reminding myself not to think like a XP user and to simplify my application process. I have a Bluetooth dongle that gives me nothing but problems on any PC it is connected to, I was waiting for something to happen when I connected it to my iBook and it took a moment for me to realize it was working. No problems, no issues nothing! Good I love my little mobile white box of joy ;)

I won't be ditching my PC just yet although I am planning to avoid XP and run something like CherryOS.

My blog buddy (!) Comatose has been busy writing new music and has had another piece of work highlighted at Knobtweakers. I reckon you should check it out. (I also reckon I should post some of the tracks I made in the past such as Tekspace) - I know that was a shameless link but what's a boy to do! LOL

It was nice to hear Natalie Imbruglia this week - I think she has a lovely voice and is a breath of fresh air. Her new single Shiver is rather splendid and the Bourne Identity style video is worth checking out.

We are scared!

Friday, March 11, 2005

OK, I can see the reasoning behind this video and on some level I am happy that it has been put together but on others I am kinda scared by the amount of saccharin sentiment, and more importantly the fact that it takes a DVD to get the message across!

I'm not knocking the We are Family Foundation, I just find it a little odd that's all!

Mind you it's not as odd or nowhere near as scary as this!

Red **** Day

Wednesday, March 09, 2005

Just because it's "Red **** Day" this week I thought I would post this delicious poster.

I am not a big fan of the event to be honest but if this is the result I may be persuaded to change my mind!

Four days and ...

Tuesday, March 08, 2005

It's been four days now and I am happy to report absolutely no problems with my iBook whatsoever ;)

It is possibly the best, quickest and easiest computer purchase I have ever made!

How do Apple do it?

It's no wonder Mr Jobs and co have such a big following. Support and questions I have asked have yealed good rapid responses and helped me make a few new Mac buddies along the way ;)

I just wish everything else was so simple!

It is only Tuesday and already I have had just about enough this week, I seem to be spending more time in meetings than actually managing to get anything done - gggrrr!

Oh well it's a job I guess!

But as usual I find myself wishing my life away and hoping for it to be the weekend! Not that I want to do anything, I am so full of cold again that I just want curl up in bed, snuggled next to my baby until it all gets better.

Why is it that anyone that seems to have a cold this seems to have had it for months? I am sick and tired of being sick - I eat lots of fresh fruit and veg, I am fit, I don't do drugs etc - why am I prone to these damn bugs?

Sorry whinge over...

iDid it!

Sunday, March 06, 2005

Well I have been thinking about it for a while and yesterday I bit the bullet and did it!

Did what?

I bought myself an iBook. I have a number of reasons for wanting and needing one but I am not going to bore you with the details here.

Anyway I love it! I am so glad to be back on the Mac OS platform, I forgot just how much easier and quicker Mac OS is.

Don't get me wrong I will still use my supped up Dell PC but whilst out and about the iBook will rule!

It's probably just as well that I have this new "toy" to play with as I am absolutely full of cold again (no doubt again thanks to the office a/c :( ). And Richard has a really bad back again so we have both managed to see the sun come up over the weekend thanks to lack of sleep :(

Back to Basics

Friday, March 04, 2005

Boy am I glad that week is over - my head has been spinning all week and now it is time for me to switch off.

Sadly the weather hasn't got much better so I expect us to do very much over the weekend. I guess I will spend even more free time browsing the web looking for a good deal on an iBook - any one got one for sale?

The rather delicious specimen on the left is Raúl Olivo and what a tasty treat he is ;)

I have noticed there seems to be an explosion of hot men featured in blogs recently - are we all getting a little spring in our step or have I not been looking hard enough before (that I do find hard to believe!).

Whatever the reason, keep doing it! LOL

I saw this cracking site the other day which features spoofs of romantic novels - it's definitely worth a look.

I have read on Engadget that the big phone manufacturers are snubbing Microsnot with their latest media handsets. It would appear that they have not added any ability to play WMV files - what a shame! LOL

I also read about this great utility which lets you share your iTunes files over the web - shame it only seems to work on Mac so far (another reason to get an iBook? (see above!)).

Playlistmag is a rather interesting site offering news, reviews and most importantly music tracks to download - if you are ever tired of the same old 4000 songs in your iPod (I know I am), you should give them a listen.

I have rambled on enough for now - I'll blog a bit more over the weekend when (and if) I have anything more interesting to share!
