"New York New York it's a wonderful town..."
My baby completely surprised me by calling and asking if I'd like to go to New York for my birthday.
My response? "That'll be two return tickets on Virgin Atlantic please.. ;)"
(Actually my response was a little more casual as I am Mr Organised and first thought about whether I could take leave from work!)
I am really excited about going, we have discussed it for a while and I have wanted to go for longer. Now I will get my chance. And what a fabulous birthday treat - February will not come soon enough.
:)))))))))))

Kinda Weird
Monday, November 29, 2004
As predicted the weekend home was kinda odd.
Don't get me wrong I had a lovely time but hearing my parents wish me a "Happy Christmas" on the 28th November is a little disturbing!
Still we had a nice time and the decision to drive down early Saturday morning instead of late Friday paid off (especially as we were both out for the count the minute we went to bed on Friday!).
Saturday was a pretty full day considering it started at 4.30am! We took Richards nephews to see "A Sharks Tale" as they had wanted to see it. I am glad we had the excuse to take small children as I thought it was appalling. Nevertheless they consumed copious amounts of popcorn, sweets and drinks whilst Richard feel asleep so I think it was a successful trip! T was singing along to "Car Wash" so I will gauge this as a positive reaction!
For the evening we were both at my parents and mum and dad cooked us a monumental Christmas dinner. I swear my parents cook the best Turkey roasts around - it was so nice and so welcome. I don't think we stopped eating all evening - right up until Richard left to go back to his sisters.
I spent Sunday relaxing with my parents and showing them more bits and pieces on the computer I bought them for Christmas. I am amazed how quickly they are picking things up, I am very proud of them both.
The drive home was a bloody nightmare though - it usually takes around 4 hours but annoyingly it took 6 and a half! All due to miles of traffic cones, rain and idiot drivers crashing through barriers etc, just because of the need to "get there before everyone else".
Still mustn't grumble as we got home safely.
I have spent my day purchasing the last of my Christmas presents and dutifully wrapping them. I have the cards to write but feel all Christmas'd out for now so will do them later.
I did manage to have a run around Max Payne 2 (thanks Luke) and got a bit further in Half Life 2 but I have made sure it doesn't take over my day (otherwise what's the point in being off?)
I spotted a few comments regarding Calendar Romano on various blogs so I thought I'd mention it too. It is sort of the Italians version of the French Rugby calendar - sort of! It features members of the Roman Catholic Church and I just had to post this photo - isn't he cute? I wonder what he hides under his cassocks! LOL
One has to wonder what other calendars are out there, do you know of any worth a mention?
P.S. I am not sure how effective the Make Love Not Spam screen saver is but it has to be worth a try doesn't it? Apparently this has caused some online caution and the validity of the whole process has been called into question. Therefore ignore this bit of the entry and don't bother to download the screen saver! It's for your own good!!!

Silence is Golden
Thursday, November 25, 2004
Well this will be the last entry for a while as we are heading down south tomorrow evening for our pre Christmas trip (no we are not staying for long, just a couple of days).
Annoyingly it's been brought forward by a week which has brought on some complications (not being able to see my god daughter and Richard not being able to see his mum), but I guess that cannot be helped.
My mum had another series of tests today and sounded rather shaken earlier so it's probably just as well I am going to be there tomorrow so I can assess the situation.
It will possibly feel a bit odd as I know when we return we won't be down there until after Christmas. It's not my first Christmas away from my family but it's the first where I have chosen to be away.
Since moving from Devon I have always been at someone's family (mine, my ex's etc) but this year Richard and I are spending it at ours; alone. We want it this way. It'll be far more relaxing. Sometimes I do wonder if certain people actually notice how busy we really are!
Anyway I don't want to sound bitter. I'll leave on a high note and post another hunk for you to ogle. Hopefully this guy will be meaty enough to last right through the weekend. I think he's called Alex Wilcox, I have now idea who he is or what he does and as usual I don't care - the window dressing is more than enough!
Have a good weekend y'all! (Happy Thanks Giving to all my US visitors!)

Waste of my time?
Wednesday, November 24, 2004
I wrote this huge entry about using alternative methods to get my content online and debating whether I should bother to use them... (Flickr in particular).
Since then I have realised that I have to pay an additional monthly charge for more "sets" in Flickr and am annoyed by this. What's the point? It's very expensive. I pay for web space and will continue to use what I have. Trunk Guy is not about to change!
On a different note - if you have any ides or shots you think I should/could use here as Eye Candy let me know as my resources are running a little low!
Thanks x

Les Rythmes Divine
Tuesday, November 23, 2004
Thanks have to go out to "M" for the track - it's far better than I could have thought! (Jacques Your Body by Les Rythmes Digitales). FUNKY!
It's certainly helped me end my working day in a much better mood to the one in which I started!
My spirits have been lifted so much I thought it only right to upload a new hunk for you all to drool over. Yes there is much more to him but you have to ask nicely if you want to see! Sorry no idea who he is but do we really care?
Short entry tonight as I am going to shut down (literally) and get myself properly refreshed and focused for tomorrow.

Carpets
Things do not seem to be any better today.
I had another bad nights sleep and feel as uncoordinated and organised as I did yesterday. I am supposed to be all inspired and heavily involved in designs (something I really enjoy doing) but cannot get that spark!

Under Who?
Monday, November 22, 2004
Thanks to Under U for the rather fab catalogue I received in the mail today. I didn't ask for it but it was nice to browse through all the same!
It seems that Splash! was a hit today - maybe I should make this a regular feature? ;o)
Today has been an odd day - I have not felt totally organised or in control for some reason. I have a number of things on in work and yet I cannot seem to put things in any order. This is most unlike me. It's probably because I didn't sleep that well last night... Hopefully I'll be able to even things out tonight. I hate being tired and I hate not feeling in control.
I want to go to the gym tomorrow but I feel I need some encouragement... I always get like this with exercise, I am really enthusiastic to begin with and then it fades. I need to just get my arse in my track bottoms and run, the best thing to do is just go!
How do these Muscle Mary's summon up the energy to go to the gym so often?
BTW if you have any images you'd like me to consider as eye candy send them to me! (Using the contact page)

Well what can I say?
Terrific, stupendous, hilarious, funny, sharp, stunning!
The Producers was everything I expected it to be and more.
Nathan Lane and Lee Evans were amazing. From the beginning the show was a non stop rollercoaster of music and laughs.
The rest of the cast and the supports were stunning. The sets were fab, the music was typically Broadway and the humour was typically Mel Brooks.
The whole of the Theatre Royal was in riots of laughter and as Mel brooks has said, the show offends no one as it offends everyone.
Definitely a must see!
Apple Mania
Whilst we were in town we popped along to Regents Street to see the new Apple Store which opened yesterday. I expected it to be busy but I didn't expect it to be mobbed! You'd think people had never seen an apple computer before!
It's a great store with some great kit but you have to wonder whether the same reaction would be given for a Microsoft store?

I love this ad - not sure about the car but the ad is superb.
Anyone know what the track is?
P.S. I am practising my lines for tomorrow:
Springtime for Hitler and Germany Deutschland is happy and gay! We're marching to a faster pace Look out, here comes the master race! Springtime for Hitler and Germany Rhineland's a fine land once more! Springtime for Hitler and Germany Watch out, Europe We're going on tour! Springtime for Hitler and Germany...

Grade U
Ok now I am annoyed! A school (state run) specifically for gay students? What the?
If there was ever a reason to remove gay kids from society - legitimately, then this is it!
Why should there be a separate school? Surely there should be better understanding of the needs of gay kids? Surely the straight kids need to be taught tolerance and understanding?
What is the world coming to!
What next a separate school for ginger kids? (mind you that's not such a bad idea - joke)
I tried (not very hard) to find a photo of a hunky guy in the snow (in keeping with today's weather), the first photo I came across was Jade Parnell... Not a disappointing search I am sure you will agree ;)

Freezinmebollockzoff
After a day and night of torrential rain I awake to a completely different Britain, one full of ice and snow!
The temperature at home was 1 degree, on the M1 0 degrees and at the office -2!!!!! All the rain we had yesterday has frozen and the office site looks like it's snowed. So did parts of the motorway for that matter.
Looks like we are well and truly heading into winter!
And just as it gets cold they go and mess with Bovril - what's that all about!?
Time to find my winter woollies.

a) Simple things seem to take for ever 1) Sending emails 2) Having three attempts at a simple Blog entry 3) Driving home b) All you want to do is close your eyes or cry c) You terrify yourself when you do simple tasks, scared that it may cost you your life d) Not wanting to spend anytime online, surfing the web or playing Half Life 2 e) Spellllling mistakes are far too frequent
I think you get what I am driving at!
It's not bad enough that I am feeling so tried, it has not stopped lashing down all day. This made my journey home rather long and hectic as I had top bypass the motorways in favour of country roads and towns. With all the huge puddles and flooded lanes the car has definitely had some sort of wash (if not a clean one). I hate this weather. Dark, wet winter nights where you have to concentrate on pedestrians, on coming headlights, piddles, ditches and other drivers. Especially when the other drivers driver around so recklessly. What is it about bad weather that brings out the worst in people? We all have somewhere to go but do we have to get killed trying to get there?
This Blog is turning out to be quiet a resource - something I never imagined. I have already struck up a conversation with MikeMK it happens that he lives very close to where I work. I have also struck up a conversation with Matt who works near the Hamburger Union. Who'd have thought such simple comments would spark topics for debate and conversation in such a way?
It's Mike we have to thank for the eye candy that currently greets us. As the weather is so bad and the general tone of this entry is quite negative I thought you might like some cheering up!
The hunk in trunks is Troy Dumais and he is a diver. Judging by the cheesy grin I guess he must be American (be he can be forgiven!)
I found this image at All the Wet Men and once you have finished reading my Blog I reckon you should go have a look ;)
As a shameful plug, if you know me and don't know what to get me for Christmas (mainly because I am an awkward git who has everything), may I direct you to my Amazon Wish List ;)
All I want to do now is have some dinner and curl up on the sofa/in bed with my baby.

Choc coated delights
Tuesday, November 16, 2004
At the request of my friend Ben I decided to go on a bit of a scavenger hunt for some eye candy. Ben directed me to some hunk called Ben Browder (pictured) and I can see why.
Apparently he is in some sci fi program called Farscape but that is irrelevant - he's lovely! Thanks for the heads up Ben! Any excuse to talent spot and bring it to the attention of the masses!
On a more serious note I am still setting up my new computer - I really should start to think about formatting my old one. You know how it is though, until you are 100% happy with the way the new computer works your are paranoid to delete anything from the old just in case!.
I may get side tracked from this task though as Richard has bought me a copy of Half Life 2, as stated previously, I am not sure if this is a very good idea...
Oh who am I kidding! :¬)
Thanks to some quick detective work I have come to realise that one of my regular commenters' "MikeMK" actually lives within spitting distance of where I work! Small world isn't it?

X PC / PC Box
I used to be an avid gamer, in fact I used to spend far to many hours wandering the corridors of Doom or blasting my way around Quake.
I am not sure why I stopped, maybe the lack of sleep, maybe the lack of a personal life and the constant feeling of tiredness? Maybe...
Anyway we have just put our GameCube on EBay as we don't play it - and I think we have only ever played it twice.
Since joining my new office a group of the guys has been trying to get me to purchase an X Box so that I can join their clan in Halo. I have not given this any thought as the house really does not need any more electrical boxes to plug into the network or the TV.
I did however mention my new computer...
It turns out that it is perfect for running all the up and coming games - the sort of games that most people are reportedly upgrading their machines to be able to play.
I asked the dumb question yesterday about compatibility with Half Life 2 and the capabilities of my graphics card. When one of the guys told me he was going to sulk I realized I must have a very good machine on my hands (in fact I reportedly have the best graphics card currently available).
The trouble is it would seem like I am getting sucked back into the game culture. It's not been helped knowing that Half Life 2 is apparently the dogs bollocks and is released today. My only quandary now is whether to actually purchase a copy?
Would I play it? Would I have any interest in it? Would my health and manners suffer on account of it?
I just don't know...
I wonder if there are any gay gamers out there?

No thanks!
Why oh why oh why have they decided to record a new Band Aid single?
I completely understand the cause and the reasons for the charity but why do we have to suffer another recording of Feed The World?
I don't want to sound all "Bah Humbug" but most of the "artists" are half baked acts that no one will remember in 20 years time.
Jamelia, Busted, Will Young - give me a break.

Ok I relented! Having scoped around the web ab bit more (in the interest of trying out my new computer you understand!) I found myself at the Man Hunt web site - via a blog I think!
Anyway I don't see the program as it's not brodcast in the UK but I was curious to find out how things had moved on.
The good news is that the delightful Kevin P is still in and his gallery has been extended - welcome to Sunday Eye Candy MK II!!! :)

It's here
My new computer arrived yesterday morning (thanks to Richard who went to physically collect it!)
It took a couple hours just to take everything out of the box and get it set up. I am still in the process of updating all my new installs on the new machine. It's gone 90% smoothly but Outlook and iTunes have caused me grief. Unfortunately I have lost my playlists and ratings which has really pissed me off annoyed me! If anyone know how I can transfer this from my old machine I'd be grateful!
The weekend hasn't totally been spent on the computer - although it's 10:55 on Sunday and I have been on it since I got up!
Richard and I went into London yesterday. We spent the afternoon going around our usual retail haunts - Fortnum's, Purves & Purves etc. I managed to get a number of Christmas presents purchased yesterday so I am nearly finished. Probably just as well as it looks like as we'll be going home a week earlier due to our plans being changed unexpectedly!
We stopped at Hamburger Union for dinner last night and it was very nice. They have taken over the old Fish premises in Dean Street and basically it's an upmarket hamburger bar which serves organic meat and meat free hamburgers. The service was a little slow but considering the food was piping hot and very tasty made it worth the wait.
We managed to get over to the South Bank to meet Richard's brother in law and one of his nephew's who were up here on a Scout weekend. It was really nice to catch up with them and as usual it always seems odd to see someone from home in London!
If you are in London in the next couple of weeks, get down to Regents Street - the "Incredibles" Christmas lights are fab ;)
Oh and in case you were wondering - yes, Sunday's eye candy is another photo of the gorgeous Ben Cohen ;)
Just as a diversion - an odd but interesting web site you have to visit is Mansfield and Gye!

... on a journey through time and space...
Yes my Mighty Boosh CD arrived yesterday and I am gradually working my way through all the episodes. I have to admit it has to the be first time I have ever arrived at the office car park laughing - the episode I was listening to simply made my journey to work fly by!
It's been one of those weeks and I am glad it's at an end. I have had to use my metal quite a bit to get home as I have needed to find alternative routes due to problems with the M1.
I started going to the gym this week, I used to go quite a bit but have not been for ages. I also used to swim four times a week but that seems to have been missed from my routine too. Thankfully there are great facilities at the office which means I can use my lunch breaks to pound the treadmill or the cross trainer. It's quite liberating and refreshing to do in a lunch hour - it helps relive the stresses of the morning.
Something else that helps relieve the stresses is the Adonis that was in the changing rooms yesterday! If he's there every Thursday at one o'clock, I will make sure I am ;) just to look of course!. He was a very fit guy who didn't look too dissimilar to Rich Jenkins (see below). There should be plenty of opportunity for eye candy at work due to the amount of people at the facility - a bit of window shopping would help the grey winter days pass by. Of course none of them would be any match for my baby.
Ok, so it's Friday and I thought it was time for another piece of Eye Candy! Seeing us into the weekend is the very crunchy Rich Jenkins.
I was wondering whether it was worth uploading any more eye candy to my blog or to actually spend the time and create a new gallery?. Let me know what you think by leaving a comment below.
I had hoped to have spent the last couple of days setting up my new computer but sadly it didn't arrive when it was supposed to. Hopefully we'll be able to pick it up from the depot tomorrow and I can set about transferring everything across. This may be the last blog for a while as I have an awful lot of stuff to transfer. Or I may want to test Bloggar and just send a post for the hell of it watch this space!.
I am quite concerned about the views of the British People. Channel 4 got the public to vote their first entrants into the UK Rock 'n Roll Hall of Fame. Why on earth did the likes of fat bastard Robbie Williams, talentless bitch Madonna and Mr Plastic Michael Jackson get in!!! What a poor selection! What about Prince? Pet Shop Boys? Janet Jackson? James Brown? What a load of bollocks rubbish.
Well I think I have rambled enough for now, I hope to post again soon.
(How come no one made any comments about my work photo's :( )

It's a hit!
Wednesday, November 10, 2004
I am really excited ;), The Producers had it's gala opening night in the West End last night and the reviews have been very favourable.
Considering the shaky start it seems like Mel Brooks has another hit on his hands.
I am a little concerned that the reviews I have read seem to concentrate on what happens when Nathan Lane leaves the production in January but why is this important now?
Richard and I are booked in to see the matinee performance on the 20th of November and I am really looking forward to going.
It's been so long since I have been to the West End and this seems like the best production to run there in a long while.
Maybe it's not just Spring Time for Hitler but the whole West End too ;)

No not from my new job!
Well here is a day the Web Development world has been awaiting for some time - a day when we hope and pray that Microsoft may get knocked from their perch and a better browser is available to more people.
Mozilla released Firefox today and if all the news items are to believed, Microsoft are worried.
I am currently in the process of downloading the browser and will install it on my new computer (when it arrives on Thursday - yay!). I just hope it acts in a similar way to Explorer but gives us the extra functionality and reliability that has been lacking for so long.
Who knows I may even switch!

What a view

The London 2012 Olympic Bid team have unveiled there impressions of the proposed Olympic Village and the Stadiums.
I am very impressed with what the architects have come up with and would love to see this come to reality.
London deserves a boost and our sporting facilities need to be brought up to date.
London can offer itself a tremendous opportunity and a sounding board from which to promote to the world stage whilst improving facilities and the livelihoods of millions in the UK
2012 for London - I back the Bid!

Trunk Fawkes
It occurred to me that when I was younger I used to write letters to no one in particular about things I was thinking about and things I wanted to say. I now realise this blog seems to have become the updated version of that!
I recieved a strip of photographs from the photographer at my office this week (right). One of these is to be placed on the staff notice board and I had to decide which. Not sure I approve of any of them to be honest! What do you think? I wonder if I should post these in the gallery?
We have had a good weekend so far and being Guy Fawkes weekend there has been a lot of fireworks and activity. We have not visited any displays though as we decided to spend the time at home together with the cats. Jerry doesn't seem to be affected by the noise that much but Brandy has been rather jumpy. She chose to spend the night on the sofa with us in front of the coal fire. Thinking about it even I think that is preferable to standing out in the cold and the rain watching people set off mini explosive devices.
I think my expectations of fireworks are rather high anyway - something that a local display could not match. Plymouth hosts the International Firework Competition each year and the six displays last for around 15 - 20 minutes and cost an absolute fortune. I have seen things there I have never seen anywhere else. It's just a shame we haven't been able to get down there to witness it recently.
I have never been too sure whether we celebrate the fact that Guy Fawkes tried to blow up the Houses of Parliament or whether he failed? I am not sure if either warrants such joviality and celebration to be honest!
Unfortunately Plymouth was on the new last night as a First Western Express from Paddington to Plymouth derailed outside of Reading. My stomach flipped when I saw the new flash last night - latest reports state that six people have lost their lives and their are 7 people in a critical condition with many more injured. I have used this line so many times it is such a shock... It would appear that a driver decided to weave through the rail barrier, trying to get across before the barrier came down and the train arrived, sadly it was the car that caused the train to derail on impact. What was the car driver thinking? My heart goes out to all the families of those who have lost loved ones or are injured. The shock alone must be causing so much distress.
On a lighter note; we visited Waddesdon Manor on Saturday to take a browse around their Christmas Fair. to be honest it's the first time I have been to Waddesdon and come away feeling disappointed. It was a nice day out, they decorated the estate well and there were a number of stands to peruse but I was just expecting something a bit grander (and a lot less expensive!). Still it was nice to get out and about.
As if the French Rugby calendar photo's were not enough to welcome us to a hot 2005 I discovered the 2005 calendar for English rugby hunk Ben Cohen. I didn't think he could look any better as this selection of photographs is superb. I am sure I can think of plenty of guys who'd like to scrum down with him! ;) If you feel compelled to send me a Christmas gift, now you have the perfect idea! LOL
It seems that any chat show or news item is open season for Mel Brooks at present and it's good to catch him too. The Producers has just opened in the West End and now stars Nathan Lane and Lee Evans (Nathan is replacing Richard Dreyfuss who mysteriously pulled out just before opening). I have bought some tickets and Richard and I are off to the Theatre Royal at the end of the month. I am looking forward to seeing this SO much ;)
Of course how could I not mention that Yoko Ono has made it to the top of the US Dance Chart with her song about gay marriage - go Yoko! Does anyone have a copy I could listen to?
Kermit and the gang are due to appear on US postage stamps. March 2005 there will be a special set of ten released. I wonder if we can persuade the Royal Mail to do the same?
If you fancy some early Christmas cheer then check out the latest photo in my MoBlog
I hear that Dismayed Americans are thinking of moving to Canada - well all I can say is I feel really sorry for the Canadians!

Day of reckoning*
Tuesday, November 02, 2004
Well it's here, after all the hype, the discussions, the expense and the drama that fatal day is here. I guess it was inevitable really, after all, it had to happen. Why put it off any longer? Why not just get it over with?
Yes I have decided to write my Christmas list, checking who's been naughty and nice. Checking my list twice. It's turned into a bit of an annual ritual but it's worth it - Christmas is chaos enough as it is!
*I'm sorry? Did you think I meant something else? Can't think what? What on earth else is happening on the 3rd November? Can't be anything important, otherwise I'd have remembered ;)
Down and out So Vorderman was voted out! It's not much of a surprise is it - she didn't look at all sexy, in fact she looke like she crapped messed herself. And now she claims she has pulled a muscle near her rib. Sure it wasn't in her face from all that gurning?

Gay Murder in London
Monday, November 01, 2004
It's quite an alarming fact to hear the news headlines this morning "Soho nail bomb survivor murdered", "Man murdered in London was homophobic Attack".
I don't understand why anyone would cause any harm to anyone else for any reason but homophobic crimes still worry me. It's also quite alarming that this took place in London - the most liberal place in the UK.
I just hope Richard and all my friends are extra vigilant when getting around town.
