It's amazing what a gay can do!
Wednesday, July 28, 2004
The Internet never ceases to amaze me, nor the kind of things you find within. I may be a little surprised sometimes but not truly amazed any more, maybe I have been online too long.
I was lurking around the web and came across a few interesting sites;
I know there seems to be a following of comic books and gay culture - I should know about this as my ex was a huge DC Alternative Universe freak. I too have dabbled in the odd Batman tone in the past (but it never became an obsession I promise!). Imagine my non surpise to find there are gay superheroes and comic books (albeit rather graphical grahic novels) that cater for such a market... Classic Comic Books is one such site. It offers a taste of what you can purchase and to be honest I think there must be a highly feavoured imagination behind them.
Patrick must spend hours digesting, drawing and drooling over his work! Actually thinking about it these comics must be hot property, why else would they have been given restricted UGAS entry? (No I do not have an account and no I am not that interested!)
I have also had alook around at other blogs and apart from Cord and Jockohomo I have been slow to find anything of interest. That said I did happen across Geek Slut!
Now here is a man who doesn't mince his words, his attitude or frankly anything. If you want the ramblings of an honest, open, f*ck it all kind of guy then I am sure you will find everything you want here! You could even take a look at his "points to camera" if you feel like it. (For Windows users, Quicktime will open MP4 files!)
Been over to my regular haunts, still no UK tour details from NPGMC but some interesting news from Miss Janet. As well as doing a photo shoot for "the gay community press", it has been annouced that "from janet. to Damita Jo" is to be released as a DVD featuring all the vid's. That's one for the Christmas wish list then!
PSB have a lot going on at present but as much as I like them I only may attend the cinema screening of "Battleship Potemkin" at Trafalgar Square but will probably pass at the Trevor Horn celebration - mind you it may be worth it just to see Buggles! When's the new album due to drop guys?
It would seem that I have had a week of foreign phone calls. Well Spanish; Firstly our receptionist calls me in a bit of a state from southern Spain as she'd managed to format her digital camera and wondered if I could retrieve her holiday snaps - no! Then I received a call from Steve as he needed some information for San Sebastian. For my troubles I was titled an angel **polishes halo**. Funnily enough there wasn't a third...
I guess I really should spend some time on my portfolio - afterall I have more photo's etc to add...

Reader Gallery
ePhotoZine is a really cool resource for the amateur (and professional) photographer.
I have been using this site for some time now for tips, to browse and to exhibit my photo's.
It's amazing how many people are into photography and I guess with the popularity of digital camera's this will spread further.

Give It Away?
To be honest I wish I could! My head is currently spinning, full of development code, templates, categories and sectors. I have dealt with all this before, so why in my new system is it such a challenge? Maybe it's the product the office have purchased, yes that'll be it. I never had this sort of problem in the past!
It's just as well I have been sat at my desk taking in the sounds of Deepest Blue and "Late September". I wasn't too sure I actually wanted to purchase this CD as I liked the single releases but was skeptical of an album full of the same material. Thankfully a trip to Amazon sorted me out - thank god for customer reviews!
Still it's helped me get through my day and chilled me out in the car on the drive home too ;)

I Blog Therefore I am!
I spend all day on the computer at work, knee deep in ASP and I decide I need to unwind when I get home.
What do I do?
I spend all evening ripping stuff to iTunes, fiddling with my iPod and investigating Blogs! Not so much of a rest then!
If only I could get the comments to work on this damn thing...
Anyone know what an RSS feed is? ;)

Pissed off Britain
Sunday, July 25, 2004
I am so fed up with the manners, the attitude and the disregard people have for one another and their property in this country.
We have had owned our new car less than a month and some bastard has purposely knocked off the passenger wing mirror (our car plus a few others in the area).
What's the f*cking point? Tw*ts.
(Yes the language is necessary.)

Farnborough 2004
Saturday, July 24, 2004
Today was spent in the glorious sun shine, experiencing the thrills and spills of the Farnborough Air Show.
Richard is a big aircraft enthusiast but I must admit I know very little about them at all.
This is a huge event, so huge in fact; I couldn't comprehend the size of the arena or the number of exhibits.
We saw a lot of stationary plane's as well as a number of fly pasts. I was very impressed by the Red Arrows (as I have always been), the Battle of Britain fly past and quite a bit more too ;)
This was definitely worth getting up early for!
To view a photo of the Battle of Britain fly past visit my MoBlog.

Mobile phone companies really are a crock of shit!
It's bad enough that I pay them over the odds, on a monthly basis for a half decent handset and some meagre allowance of airtime and texts. It's even worse when said handset fails and they cannot offer a replacement whilst fixing the faulty one!
It's taken several trips to my mobile phone store, complaints to their website (which bounced due to technical difficulties) and several irate phone calls. It would seem you are unable to write to 02 to complain as they have no address!
So here I am after much challenging and arguing for a decent service and some apology and what have I got? The blame shifted to the manufacturer, no phone and a three week wait until I get it back!
Hopeless.

Desperation!
Monday, July 19, 2004
It's amazing isn't it! You get home from work and one of the cats is very poorly. You decide to do what you feel is best and feed them steamed chicken and rice (as recommended by the Vet).
Sadly this doesn't work!
They get so desperate for food the ill cat turns to stealing your Custard Creams and the other resorts to returning a cuff link he hid three months ago!
I give up!

iQueer!
Well the weather was not too great this weekend so we decided to spend another couple of days at the house relaxing.
I did manage to get into the garden on Saturday though and spent a couple hours, strimming, mowing and weeding the garden back to life. It's not been long since I was out there last but there has been so much rain that things have grown at an incredible rate. That said it's nice to see my "Edwardian country cottage border" in full bloom and our sunflowers seem close to bursting into colour too.
Sunday was grey and muggy so we decided to take a trip to Ikea. So did the rest of the world it seems! As ever we went for "a look" and came home with a boot full of goods! A new easy chair now adorns the dining room and a new coffee table is present in the lounge.
Of course Richard and I will have no actual benefit from this as the chair will no doubt be occupied by the cats and the coffee table will be used as some form of exercise device!

I really do hate people who don't have the courage of their convictions.
People who like to judge, to act like the boss and to point the finger. People who think they are right and perfect.
People who like to accuse when they themselves are even more to blame and even more in the wrong.
It's also amazing how some people love the sound of their own voice - people who seem to have no idea of how loud or annoying they really are (and what's worse is the people who go along with it)
Hypocritical Hateful Ignorant Simpletons

Do do do do do!
We were privileged enough to acquire tickets to last nights recording of French and Saunders at the BBC. ;)
I swear I have not laughed so much in ages.
Their parodies and sketches are just as funny as ever and even though there has been an eight year drought, they have more than made up for it.
Keep an eye open on BBC One in October 2004. Great sketches are included sending up Madonna, Catherine Zeta Jones and a host more. To be honest if they deserve to have the mickey taken out of them, then they are featured ;)
Fabulous - absolutely fabulous ;)
(Don't mention the dog collar!)

Living in a world they didn't make
Sunday, July 11, 2004
This world does really disgust me at times.
We have had a relaxing weekend and decided to pay a visit to our local RSPCA animal shelter. This is where we found Brandy and Jerry.
We like to visit the less fortunate cats, giving the centre some food and the cats some company.
It never ceases to amaze me how cruel we can be. On this visit the shelter was quite full of cats of all ages and their stories were just horrible.
There was this lovely little English shorthair who had to be rehomed simply because the husband of the owner "did not like cats". She was such a cute little cat with the cutest face. Thankfully for her, someone had reserved her so she'd be rehomed soon.
The occupants in the pen opposite had a much darker story. Sadly for them they were discovered in a black bag near someone's rubbish, simply discarded and unwanted. They were incredibly timid and very wary of anyone paying them any attention. Sadly they couldn't be handled either as the centre was not sure if they were harbouring any diseases.
How can anyone treat such a lovable, innocent creature this way? All these cats want to do is to recieve some fuss, be comfortable and loving. Is that really too much to ask?

Scrobbling along
Friday, July 09, 2004
The web is a very useful resource and I am pretty sure people really underestimate it's power.
That said it can be used for pointless things too! Take a look at Audioscrobbler. This is a web site that records what you are listening to on your PC/Mac and publishes it to the web.
Why? Well, to enable you to keep a record of what you listen to, to let others know what you are listening to and to discover new music.
If you were to follow the link above you will see what I listened to last, select a song, find another user who has listened to it and then explore their tastes.
Simple but effective ;)

Lethargy and boredom
Tuesday, July 06, 2004
It's official, I am bored with this site, I am out of ideas...
It seems that Trunk Guy is a site increasingly becoming an attachment to my blog and this was never my intention.
If the weather changes and I get some time to address this feeling watch out for developments within the site... Hey you may even see the removal of certain bits and pieces.
Is there anything you particularly like about the site, is there anything you think can be improved? Let me know what you think so I can better judge how to move Trunk Guy forward.

Kaskade and Dimitri From Paris
Monday, July 05, 2004
I was browsing around iTunes this weekend and came across an artist I had not heard of before Kaskade. Now please forgive my musical ignorance if you have heard of him before but I was compelled to hear his work.
After purchasing the most popular track "Steppin' Out" I had a browse around the web only to find most music stores either did not stock his album or wanted to charge the earth for it.
I decided it would be easier and cheaper to go back to iTunes and purchase "In The Moment" from there. I am so so impressed.
Kaskade is a very talented young man and I would liken his musical style to that of ATB, Adamski and Jakarrta. It's laid back, funky, dancy and soulful. A truly amazing album.
You can hear snippets and find out more at Kaskade's web site.
I guess my trip to Paris (see posting below) must have had some influence on my musical tastes as I also came back with the fab new album by Dimitri From Paris titled "Cruising Attitude". This is a stylish, laid back trip with some great tunes and some brilliant vocals.
Both albums are worthy of inclusion on my iPod and will be listened to constantly.

Paris 2004 - Happy Birthday Richie!
Sunday, July 04, 2004
As a treat for Richards' birthday we decided to go to Paris for the day and have a spot of lunch!
We had such a lovely day taking in the sights of Parc Andre Citroen, the Bois-de-Boulogne, the Champs Elysees and much more.
We also stopped at Le Cafe de Commerce and had a fabulous lunch - if you find yourslef in the Commerce region of Paris, we urge you to not pop in. It's very resonably priced and the food was lovely.
Follow this link to browse through the photograph's I took during the day. There will also be a film of the day available soon as Richard was busy with our digital camcorder!

This is the first part of their latest adventures and is so so true! Anyone who has a thing for shopping at that Swedish Furniture giant should take heed!
